Scholarships at University of Prince Edward Island

Open to two Canadian citizens entering the second year of a four-year Arts degree who demonstrate financial need and have a minimum average of 70% in first year. Each scholarship is $15,000 and is renewable if the student maintains full-time status and a minimum average of 70%.

Students graduating from a PEI high school who are entering the University of Prince Edward Island and demonstrate potential to contribute to the province's long-term development. Recipients must show aptitude or interest in cultural or artistic life. $5,000 in the first year, renewable for up to three further years with 75% standing in year one and 80% in years two through four on a full course load. Apply by March 1.

Students entering first year at the University of Prince Edward Island may be considered for the Frederick M. Davison Award for Excellence. The Scholarship and Awards Committee looks for strong academic achievement (not necessarily the highest high school aggregate) plus dedication and a desire to make a difference in the community. One award of up to $4,500. An application is required. Established in memory of Frederick M. Davison, a Prince Edward Island businessman and community volunteer, through a bequest from his widow Helen Whitenect.

Students entering the Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality at the University of Prince Edward Island after completing two years at Holland College who performed well academically and show leadership, community contribution, and commitment to the tourism industry may qualify. The scholarship provides up to $3,590. One award is granted annually. Apply through UPEI student awards by the October 1 deadline.

University of Prince Edward Island students from Parkdale-Sherwood or the surrounding area who are entering third year in Arts, Science, or Business. One in-course scholarship of $2,710. Administered through UPEI scholarships and awards (separate from the Holland College Parkdale-Sherwood Lions Club Community Service Award).

UPEI students in any faculty planning an experience living and working with Indigenous peoples, in Canada or internationally, for academic credit may apply for this award. The scholarship is worth $2,700. One award is given. Eligible experiences include research-based theses or dissertations at the master's or doctoral level, or internships or practicums at the baccalaureate level.

UPEI undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a project related to breast cancer care, prevention, and/or cure may receive this $2,000 award (1 available). Submit application materials to the Scholarships and Awards Committee by the October 1 deadline.

Mature female students at the University of Prince Edward Island entering third or fourth year in any faculty, who have returned to full-time university studies, may apply. Students already receiving $1,000 or more in the same academic year are not eligible. If candidates are equally qualified, financial need is the deciding factor. One scholarship of $1,200 is awarded.

Full-time returning students at the University of Prince Edward Island who excel in a UPEI course related to Christian Ethics may receive this prize. One award of $1,150 is given. Selection weighs interest in Christian Ethics in historical context, class discussion, and excellence on assignments, essays, and exams.

Open to a UPEI graduate who has been accepted as a candidate for graduate studies in psychology and can provide evidence of acceptance from the university where they will study. One award of $1,000 is given. Applicants must submit proof of graduate admission in psychology.
