UPEI veterinary medicine invited essay
UPEI's Atlantic Veterinary College invites only applicants who rank highly after the academic and CASPer review to interview and write a personal essay. The prompt concerns understanding or experience of equity, diversity, and inclusion in veterinary medicine. It is not a general essay submitted with every initial DVM application.

- 3Connect that learning to a specific professional responsibility without claiming expertise or speaking for a community you do not represent.
How to approach the writing
- Structure the invited answer within 500 words and address the exact prompt UPEI sends.
- Keep the essay separate from the interview, which draws on the veterinary and animal experiences listed in the application.
Before you submit
UPEI labels this as the 2026–27 admissions process and scores the essay separately at 10% of the overall assessment. Confirm your seat category, invitation instructions, and deadline in the current applicant guide; do not submit an essay before being invited.
