Mathematics Scholarships in Canada

Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are women or identify as women, enrolled full-time in an undergraduate co-op mathematics or statistics program at the Faculty of Science with first year completed, financial need, and good academic standing may apply. The award is $2,850. Apply via uoZone with the Financial Questionnaire by November 3. The Barbara Newbegin Award aims to further access to postsecondary education for women or students who identify as women.

Open to Indigenous Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are registered full-time in a natural sciences or engineering degree program at an eligible institution, or employed as a postdoctoral fellow in the natural sciences or engineering at an eligible institution. The NSERC Indigenous Student Ambassadors grant is $2,500. It supports science-promotion work with Indigenous communities and schools, including sharing research and education experiences or participating in science promotion events.

Full-time University of Waterloo graduate students in the Faculty of Mathematics or Faculty of Arts with a demonstrated interest in computational rhetoric, computational analysis, and/or generation of rhetoric and persuasive text may apply. Selection is based on academic achievement (minimum A- cumulative average in the current program) and that interest as shown in the application. One award of $2,500 is awarded annually. Apply with a CV, unofficial transcript, two reference letters, and a written statement of up to 1,000 words by October 15, 2026. The fund was donated by Sam Pasupalak in honour of Professor Chrysanne DiMarco's teaching and mentorship in computational rhetoric.

University of Guelph students registered in any program in the College of Biological Science, the College of Computational, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences, or the College of Engineering who have completed at least 2.5 credits, and who meet the government-mandated terms for an OTSS award, may apply. One award of $1,500. Selection is based on financial need. Apply by October 7 with a completed Financial Need Assessment Form. Established on behalf of the Van Loon family in honour of parents John and Margaret Van Loon.

University of Waterloo Faculty of Mathematics upper-year undergraduates (2A or above) with strong marks and active leadership in volunteer activities that contribute to student life may apply for this scholarship. A minimum 80% overall average is expected based on the existing listing. One scholarship is available. Complete the term Undergraduate Award Application by the November deadline.

Students accepted to or enrolled in accredited U.S. college, trade, or high school STEM programs may apply for South Florida Forensic Engineering's annual STEM scholarship. Submit a one to two page essay, transcript, student ID, and contact details by email. One $1,000 award is made each year. Winners are notified by January 31. High school students accepted into qualifying STEM programs are eligible alongside current college and technical school enrollees.

University of Ottawa undergraduate Honours BSc or Major students in mathematics or science (Faculty of Science) or the Minor in Applied Ethics (Faculty of Arts) with a CGPA of 7.0 or higher, Ontario residency, and financial need are eligible. The bursary is at least $1,000. Apply through Multiple Financial Need Bursaries (99932) in uOZone by October 31. Established in memory of Raymond Bouchard, a mathematician and technology foresight analyst who founded Drachma-Denarius Inc. and worked on major National Research Council foresight studies.

Mount Saint Vincent University in-course students pursuing science who have demonstrated high marks in mathematics. One scholarship; the amount varies with endowment yield. Faculty-nominated in-course award. Established by M. Jane Phillips in memory of Sara Elizabeth Phillips, a teacher who believed women could pursue interests in any field they choose.

KPMG Indigenous Student Awards — one of the awards funded by KPMG for Indigenous students, administered through Indspire's Building Brighter Futures Bursaries & Scholarships portal. Award amounts vary by sponsoring fund and are not published as a fixed figure on the Indspire listing. Apply once through Indspire's Building Brighter Futures portal. One complete application is considered for every applicable bursary and scholarship. Consideration rounds close August 1, November 1, and February 1 at 11:59 p.m. EST each academic year; a complete application carries forward across rounds until February 1.
