Honorably discharged post-9/11 American and Australian veterans undertaking or planning full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited institution may apply for cross-Pacific study in either the USA-to-Australia or Australia-to-USA direction, in any disciplinary field. The Veterans Fund provides up to $40,000 for tuition, travel, and other educational expenses. Funding may be combined with other veteran support programs such as the GI Bill. Submit a completed application with academic transcripts, a resume, budget, passport copy, university acceptance letter, a short introductory video, and three referee contacts for letters of recommendation.

U.S. citizens or permanent residents who identify as women and are in the final year of dissertation work for a Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent research doctorate may apply. You must have completed coursework, passed preliminary exams, and received research proposal approval. The fellowship provides $25,000 for one year of full-time dissertation completion. The number of recipients varies. Apply by the posted deadline. Selection weighs scholarly excellence, project quality, and commitment to women and girls through service or research.

Doctoral candidates at U.S. graduate schools (U.S. citizenship not required) who complete all pre-dissertation requirements by June 1 of the award year and propose education-focused dissertation research may apply for the NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship. The award is $27,500 for one academic year, with 35 fellows selected. Submit background materials, a personal statement, work plan, abstract, narrative (maximum 10 pages), transcript, and two recommendations.

Full-time undergraduates at accredited four-year U.S. colleges entering sophomore, junior, or senior year with at least a 3.2 GPA may compete in the annual FSF Case Study Scholarship by developing a discipline-specific fashion industry case study. Up to 160 awards are granted, with standard awards of $10,000 and top finalists receiving up to $25,000. Funds may be applied to tuition, intern housing, study abroad, and other educational expenses. International students with F-1 visas may participate with required CPT documentation. Submit through the FSF application portal.

Predoctoral Ph.D. candidates who have completed all doctoral requirements except the dissertation and have university approval to conduct dissertation research at the Smithsonian Institution may apply. This is an independent in-residence research fellowship of 3 to 12 months with Smithsonian professional staff advisors. The award is $45,000. Selection is based on proposal merit, feasibility, and institutional fit. Apply via SOLAA by October 15, 2026.

Graduating high school seniors from Colorado or Washington who lived in-state for both junior and senior years, hold a minimum 3.5 weighted GPA and ACT 28+ or SAT 1200+, and demonstrate financial need (AGI $150,000 or less) may apply for the Michael E. McGoldrick Scholars Program. Three recipients each receive $25,000 per year for four years toward tuition, fees, room, board, a laptop, books, and supplies. Apply online September 1 through October 15 with transcripts, test scores, citizenship documentation, and financial records. Top finalists are invited for personal interviews. Scholars are selected for alignment with Michael McGoldrick's values, including a passion for knowledge, human rights, justice, and environmental conservation.

Immigrants and children of immigrants who are 30 years old or younger and plan full-time enrollment in an eligible U.S. graduate or professional program may apply. Applicants may be applying to graduate school or in the early years of graduate study. Thirty fellows are selected annually. Each receives up to $25,000 per year in stipend plus up to $20,000 per year in tuition support, covering 50% of tuition and fees, for one to two years of study. The fellowship recognizes academic excellence and leadership among New Americans across all fields of study.

U.S. citizens and permanent residents who hold a master's degree or equivalent, or who are working toward a Ph.D. or equivalent, may apply for Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) fellowships for advanced study or research at a Belgian university or institution of higher learning. Knowledge of Dutch, French, or German is optional. Applicants arrange their own registration or affiliation with a Belgian university or research institution. Fellowships provide up to $34,000 and include health insurance in Belgium. Graduate Study Fellowships and Research Fellowships are each non-renewable grants for one year. Applicants submit a completed application form, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, a brief autobiographical statement, a statement of purpose, and three letters of recommendation.

Doctoral students in anthropology (or equivalent thesis-level programs outside the U.S.) may apply for Wenner-Gren Dissertation Fieldwork Grants to fund dissertation or thesis research that advances anthropological knowledge. Qualified students of any nationality or institutional affiliation may apply if enrolled in a doctoral program and able to designate an on-campus dissertation advisor to supervise the project. Grants provide up to $25,000 for fieldwork and related research costs. Awards are nonrenewable, but applicants may request funding across distinct research phases (for example, two summers) when that fits the research design. Wenner-Gren does not cover institutional overhead or administrative fees. Apply online through the Foundation application portal when it opens (two months before each deadline). Submit a research proposal with Plan A and Plan B budgets, a bibliography, and required permits information. Deadlines are May 1 for projects starting January 1 through June 30 of the following year and November 1 for projects starting July 1 through December 31 of the following year. The review process takes about six months. The Wenner-Gren Foundation supports anthropological research worldwide and particularly welcomes proposals that integrate two or more subfields or pioneer new approaches.

High school juniors and seniors may form teams of one to five students to compete in the Modeling the Future Challenge, a math-modeling research project analyzing real-world risks using data analysis and actuarial methods. Registration is free and open to students in formal, informal, or homeschool groups. Teams submit a qualifying report and may advance through semifinals to finals. The top four teams receive tuition scholarships paid to U.S. colleges, with the highest award up to $25,000 divided among team members. Conduct an actuarial research project with recommendations for a company, organization, or government agency. Teams advancing beyond the first phase receive mentorship from actuarial professionals.
