$5,000 Scholarships

Legal U.S. residents age 16 or older in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Texas who have at least one year of undergraduate study remaining may enter. A minimum 2.0 GPA and good academic standing are required. Previous winners are ineligible. Sixteen awards of $8,000 each are granted per year across four quarterly contests, with two written-essay and two video-essay winners per quarter. Awards may not be applied to graduate school expenses. Submit a written essay up to 500 words or a video up to 3 minutes about a community member who personally inspired you and helped you build confidence to achieve your goals. AI use is prohibited. Quarterly deadlines are March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31.

U.S. citizens age 18 or older in eligible states with at least a 3.0 GPA who are enrolled in or accepted to a U.S. college for at least 12 credits may apply for the Fox Pest Control Scholarship. One recipient receives a $5,000 scholarship. Entrants may not be Fox employees or household members of Fox employees; Fox customers are eligible. Submit a 500 to 1,000 word essay on leadership and community service, a letter of recommendation from the service project recipient, and GPA certification via the online application.

Hospital-based cardiac care nurses and nursing students pursuing a career in cardiac care may apply for the Heartfelt Dreams Foundation Nursing Scholarship. One annual award of $5,000 is granted through a competitive application process open to applicants nationwide. Complete the foundation's academic nursing scholarship application form and attach a current resume by the posted deadline. The foundation supports professional development of nurses who care for congenital heart defect patients.

U.S. citizens age 17 or older in the Detroit and Wayne County area who are pursuing automotive maintenance training at a Detroit-area technical, vocational school, or community college may apply. Ten awards of $5,000 are offered annually through the SKILLED Nation (SkillPointe) portal. The application includes three essay questions. Deadlines fall on March 31 and September 30.

U.S. residents age 18 or older who are current or upcoming students at an accredited U.S. college or university (including enrollment within 3 to 6 months of the drawing date), or parents/guardians of such students. One $5,000 scholarship is awarded each quarter. Enter via the sponsor application. No essay and no account sign-up required. You may enter once each month; winners are selected quarterly.

Full-time undergraduates at accredited U.S. colleges pursuing degrees in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, or related fields may apply for the ISEA Foundation Bailey-Shipp Safety Scholarship. One recipient receives $8,000 annually. Submit official transcripts, a financial disclosure form, a 500-word essay on your motivation to pursue a safety and health career, a list of extracurricular activities, and two letters of recommendation. The scholarship honors safety industry leaders and was created in 2017 to recognize contributions to worker protection.

Full-time undergraduate or graduate students of Lithuanian heritage with at least a 2.75 GPA, demonstrated community and Lithuanian-community involvement, and U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid student visa may apply for Lithuanian Foundation scholarships. Awards of up to $7,500 support one academic year; recipients may reapply each year. Priority goes to students studying outside Lithuania, especially Lithuanian Foundation members and those studying Lithuanian linguistics, literature, folklore, or history. Submit an online application with photo, citizenship proof, official transcript, enrollment verification, two recommendation letters, and financial aid documentation.

Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full time (minimum 12 credits) at an accredited U.S. college with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have a documented cardiac disease or deformity may apply. U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents are eligible. Awards range up to $6,000 per year based on donations and case severity. Scholarships may be renewed by reapplication. Apply between July 1 and October 1. Fax one complete package to (305) 397-1917 with a physician letter, transcript, professor recommendation, and a 500 to 2,000-word personal statement. An interview may be requested.

Students participating in standard AIFS Abroad study or intern abroad programs who demonstrate strong academic achievement and/or community service may apply for the Cultural Engagement Scholarship. The award does not apply to customized faculty-led programs or virtual internships. Recipients receive up to $5,000 toward program costs. Up to four awards are available across fall and spring semesters. Complete both the scholarship application and the AIFS program application. Submit materials by April 15 for fall-semester programs or October 1 for spring-semester programs.

U.S. undergraduate students receiving a Federal Pell Grant who are applying to or accepted into a credit-bearing study abroad or international internship program may apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State. Awards are up to $5,000 for eligible program expenses, including tuition, room and board, books, transportation, and passport or visa fees. Gilman scholars also receive 12 months of federal noncompetitive eligibility hiring status. Apply through the Gilman Program online portal with required essays addressing your goals, financial need, and program fit. Applications are offered twice annually with deadlines tied to your program term.
