Software Engineering Scholarships

Major endowed scholarship for full-time NAU undergraduates in computer science, computer engineering, applied computer science, or software engineering who demonstrate intellectual merit and financial need. The award can provide up to thirty-five thousand dollars per academic year toward educational costs. Applicants must complete FAFSA, submit a detailed application with transcripts, resume, test scores, letter of interest, financial aid award letter, and a professional reference form. Arizona residency is preferred. The endowed fund was established by VMware founder and NAU alumnus Dr. Martin Casado.

STEM-educated individuals seeking admission to an ABA-accredited U.S. law school who have an interest in advancing racial or ethnic groups underrepresented in the patent law profession may apply. You must hold a college degree in a field qualifying for U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registration, plan to apply to or have applied to but not yet enrolled in law school, and demonstrate commitment to a patent law career. Selected Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Scholars receive up to a $30,000 law school tuition grant plus admissions mentoring and career support during law school. Submit a completed application with transcripts, resume, personal statement, law school admission plans, and optional letters of recommendation and FAFSA by January 31 for assured tuition-grant consideration.

The RSM US Foundation awards five first-generation college students up to $30,000 each, paid $10,000 per year over three consecutive academic years, plus an invitation to an RSM information session. Applicants must be legal residents of the 50 states or Washington, DC, at least 18 years old, enrolled full time with a 3.3 GPA or higher at an accredited college or university, and studying business or technology in a bachelor's degree program. They must be first-, second-, or third-year students with no immediate family member from a previous generation holding a bachelor's degree (siblings with degrees are fine). The application requires an unofficial transcript, a personal statement of 1,500 characters or less, and a 30-60 second original video. Applications are accepted December 1 through February 28 annually.

High school seniors and undergraduate women and non-binary students pursuing STEM degrees at U.S. colleges may apply for the Cards Against Humanity Science Ambassador Scholarship. Five winners each receive a $20,000 tuition stipend. Film a three-minute public YouTube mini-lecture explaining a STEM topic you are passionate about. The video must be scientifically accurate with cited sources, creative, and not a personal statement. An advisory board of women and non-binary STEM professionals reviews submissions and selects finalists.

The Microsoft Disability Scholarship, funded by the Disability at Microsoft employee resource group through the Seattle Foundation and administered by Scholarship America, supports graduating high school seniors living with a disability who plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and declare a target major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field. The award is $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years (up to $20,000 total) while the recipient maintains a 2.0 GPA, at least half-time enrollment, and an eligible major. Applications are submitted through Scholarship America's online portal and include essays and a recommendation. The 2026 application deadline was March 16, 2026; the program runs each year with deadlines in mid-March.

African American residents of Hampton Roads, Virginia with at least a 3.0 GPA who are committed to pursuing a STEM degree may apply for the African American Leadership Society STEM Scholarship administered by United Way of South Hampton Roads. Eligible applicants include high school seniors, currently enrolled college students, and qualifying veterans entering college. Scholarships are worth up to $10,000 toward tuition. The number of awards varies. Women account for at least 50% of recipients, and 25% of awards are designated for first-generation college students. Complete the online STEM application with required materials. Applicants must plan to enroll as a college student majoring in a STEM field. AALS aims to build a pipeline of Black STEM leaders and reduce racial and gender gaps in STEM fields across South Hampton Roads.

High school seniors or full-time undergraduate students at accredited U.S. or Canadian universities studying computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field may apply for the Generation Google Scholarship. Selected U.S. students receive $10,000 based on academic performance, financial need, leadership, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in technology. Google encourages students from historically excluded groups in tech to apply. Submit the online application with proof of enrollment, transcripts, an essay on leadership and DEI commitment, and documentation of financial need.

Students at any educational stage pursuing business, marketing, design, engineering, e-commerce, entrepreneurial studies, or other brand-licensing-related programs with a minimum 3.2 GPA may apply for Licensing International scholarships. Grants range from $5,000 to $10,000, paid directly to the recipient's educational institution. Submit an application highlighting your interest in a brand licensing career, a 300-word essay, and two letters of recommendation. One must come from a faculty member at your current school; the second from a supervisor, coach, adviser, or comparable reference.

U.S. high school seniors who have not started college and plan full-time enrollment at an accredited nonprofit four-year institution to study computer science or a related technical field may apply. Priority goes to students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in tech, including first-generation college students and those from marginalized racial, gender, or disability communities. Recipients receive $10,000 per year for up to four years, plus mentorship, supplemental learning, a laptop, and paid experiential trips. Selection weighs demonstrated passion for technology, FAFSA financial need, and interview performance. Year-round programming participation is required to maintain renewal eligibility.

Massachusetts residents with at least one year of state residency pursuing a designated high-demand major at an eligible Massachusetts public or independent institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA may apply via the MASSAid Student Portal. Awards of up to $10,000 per year are available for full-time study in fields such as STEM, health professions, education, social work, criminal justice, economics, or business. Amounts vary by institution type and enrollment level. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Title IV-eligible non-citizens who have filed the FAFSA and not previously earned a bachelor's degree. The program encourages degree completion in disciplines that address Commonwealth workforce needs.
