Scholarships at University of Virginia

Ph.D. and M.B.A. candidates demonstrating outstanding achievement and leadership promise may be nominated for Jefferson Fellowships at UVA's Darden School of Business, Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, and School of Engineering. Students cannot apply directly; departments or schools nominate candidates. Award amounts vary by school. Engineering awards include $5,000 in year one plus a departmental package; Darden and GSAS have distinct stipend structures.

One of UVA's most prestigious undergraduate awards, established in 1991 in memory of student-athlete and coach T. Rodney Crowley Jr. The scholarship is awarded to a rising fourth-year student who demonstrates leadership, sportsmanship, character, and integrity, providing the equivalent of full in-state tuition for the recipient's final undergraduate year. Recent recipients have been outstanding McIntire School student-athletes selected by the Alumni Association. The award honors Crowley's legacy as a varsity tennis captain, coach, and campus leader.

Global Bicentennial Scholarship supporting currently enrolled UVA undergraduates pursuing a credit-bearing education abroad experience through the university for a summer, semester, or full year. Applicants use the common Education Abroad Scholarship Application; deadlines are October 15 for spring programs and March 1 for summer, fall, and year programs. Recipients must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and have an approved or in-progress program application by the deadline. After completing the experience, awardees submit a reflection and photo.

Deans' Scholarship for second- and third-year College of Arts and Sciences undergraduates majoring in the humanities. Candidates need a minimum 3.400 cumulative GPA, outstanding academic achievement, and a strong record of service to others.
