Healthcare Scholarships

Veterinary students in year two or later at an AVMA-accredited program with at least a 3.0 GPA who commit to at least three years of animal welfare work after graduation may apply. Scholarships of up to $33,333 per year, with a maximum total of $100,000, may be renewable. Funds cover tuition, fees, books, supplies, and required equipment. Submit the online application with essays, academic and service information, and FAFSA demonstrating financial need by the March deadline.

U.S. citizen medical students who resided in Allegheny County at least 12 months before registering and are entering or enrolled in their third or fourth year at a Pennsylvania medical school may apply. One $12,000 scholarship is awarded through the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Apply July 1 through September 30. The fund was established by the Allegheny County Medical Society Foundation to assist local students with medical school costs.

U.S. citizens ages 17 to 25 who are transition-aged or aging-out foster youth with proof of foster care experience, a high school diploma or GED, and plans to attend an accredited vocational, trade, or two-year college program in a high-demand trade field may apply. Foster Love and AVB BrandSource select ten scholars per cycle for awards of up to $10,000 over up to two years, plus career coaching and personal development support. Submit the application with proof of foster care, acceptance into an accredited program, a personal statement, and two recommendation letters. Applications close once all slots are filled.

Full-time graduate students enrolled in an audiology program (AuD, PhD, or AuD/PhD) at a U.S. university who are in at least their second academic year and have completed at least one pediatric audiology course may apply. Three awards of $10,000 are given. Submit a resume, two letters of recommendation, and a personal statement on pediatric audiology. The American Academy of Audiology Foundation supports doctoral students advancing clinical skills and research in hearing and balance care.

U.S. Lime Connect network members with disabilities enrolled at a four-year university pursuing a healthcare or STEM degree may apply for the Johnson and Johnson Access-Ability Lime Scholarship. Each recipient receives $10,000 toward education expenses. Submit a resume, transcripts, three essays on healthcare career goals and disability inclusion, and one reference through the Lime Connect application portal. Johnson and Johnson partners with Lime Connect to support students with disabilities pursuing healthcare and STEM careers.

Full-time undergraduates at accredited U.S. colleges pursuing degrees in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, or related fields may apply for the ISEA Foundation Bailey-Shipp Safety Scholarship. One recipient receives $8,000 annually. Submit official transcripts, a financial disclosure form, a 500-word essay on your motivation to pursue a safety and health career, a list of extracurricular activities, and two letters of recommendation. The scholarship honors safety industry leaders and was created in 2017 to recognize contributions to worker protection.

Ohio residents at the University of Akron with at least a 3.0 GPA who are incoming first-year students, transfers, or current students newly entering a qualifying STEM or medicine major may apply for Choose Ohio First STEMM scholarships. Awards provide up to $5,500 per academic year for full-time enrollment in eligible STEMM fields. Applications typically open October 1 and close January 31 for the following academic year. Residents of the Grossmont Healthcare District for at least one year, or employees who have worked within district boundaries for at least two years, enrolled in healthcare-related technical training or degree programs may apply for the Health Tech Scholarship. Ten awards are granted with prizes up to $5,250. Applicants may apply to only one district scholarship program per year and can receive the award only once. Provide proof of registration in a current health technology course of instruction. Non-residents qualify if they have worked in the district for the required period.

Students of Hellenic descent enrolled in an accredited California medical or dental school, or California permanent residents enrolled in an accredited U.S. medical or dental school, may apply for the Demetrios N. Halikis, M.D. Scholarship through the Hellenic American Medical and Dental Society. A $5,000 award supports medical or dental studies. Submit the online application with transcripts, MCAT scores if applicable, a recent photograph, and two recommendations, including one from a Hellenic community leader.

Economically disadvantaged women from or attending school in the Mid-Atlantic region (DE, MD, VA, WV, PA, NJ, NY, or DC) who are pursuing healthcare careers may apply for the Dr. Omega Logan Silva Scholarship. One recipient receives $5,000. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 GPA, significant school and community involvement, and plans to work in the Mid-Atlantic after completing their program. Submit a completed application, transcript, activity sheet, two non-relative recommendations, and a 250- to 500-word essay on how a healthcare degree will make a difference in your life. Finalists are interviewed.
