Criminal Justice Scholarships

Students residing in eligible Virginia counties or cities who plan to pursue careers as firefighters, police officers, or emergency medical providers may apply. Eligible applicants include those currently enrolled in related training, past or present volunteers in those fields, or dependents of full-time or part-time first responders. A 3.0 GPA is required. The John Randolph Foundation's Bobby Owen Memorial Scholarship provides up to $5,000. Apply online by February 15. Foundation trustees, employees, and their immediate families are ineligible, though student interns may apply.

Undergraduate sophomores, juniors, or seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA majoring in criminal justice may apply for the National Association of Black Narcotic Agents' Carroll R. Gibson Memorial Scholarship for use at an HBCU. Awards range up to $5,000. Submit a 300 to 500 word essay on law-enforcement reform, an unofficial transcript, a professor recommendation on official letterhead, and application materials. A personal interview is required. Applicants must be active in school and community.

Minnesota students majoring in natural resources and environmental sciences may apply for the Art Engelbrecht Environmental Education Scholarship from Viking Sportsmen, Inc. Relevant fields include natural resources management, law enforcement, and aviation. One $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually based on achievement, extracurricular activities, community involvement, leadership, and service. Check the Viking Sportsmen scholarship application for current requirements and deadlines. The award was established in 2007 by family and friends of conservationist Arthur O. Engelbrecht to support students pursuing environmental education.

Rising juniors and seniors enrolled full-time at an accredited Ohio college or university with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA may apply if they are majoring in prevention, public health, human services, criminal justice, or a related field. One merit- and need-based award of $1,000 is given for tuition and fees, paid directly to the student's institution. Submit a written statement explaining why you are an ideal candidate and describing your commitment to creating positive change in society. Community college students age 18 and older enrolled in cybersecurity or related technology programs in the United States may apply on a rolling basis for the Last Mile Microsoft Cybersecurity Scholarship. The program provides up to $500 for short-term basic needs and up to $375 toward cybersecurity certification exam costs, plus access to LinkedIn Premium, GitHub Global Campus, and Global Mentors Initiative. No minimum GPA is required. Complete the online application with proof of enrollment, demonstrate financial need, and submit required tax forms. Students from underrepresented groups in cybersecurity are encouraged to apply. Last Mile Education Fund supports community college students building careers in cybersecurity and related fields.

Economically disadvantaged Florida residents who cannot otherwise afford an approved Florida Firefighter Minimum Standards and Emergency Medical Technician certification program may apply through the Florida Fire Chiefs' Foundation. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a high school diploma or GED, a valid Florida driver's license, and a fire-chief recommendation. Awards cover tuition, books, uniforms, and protective-clothing rental not met by other financial aid. Number of recipients and award amounts vary annually. Apply for financial assistance at your chosen institution, prepare required documentation including proof of citizenship and driving record, and submit the scholarship application when the program is open.
