Scholarships for College Juniors

College juniors or seniors who are U.S. citizens (or from American Samoa), in the upper quarter of their class, and committed to careers in government or public service may be nominated for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship by their institution's Truman Faculty Representative. Up to 65 Truman Scholars each receive up to $30,000 for graduate or professional school, plus leadership development activities and special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government. Applicants must be nominated; self-nominations are not accepted. The Truman Scholarship Foundation is the federal memorial to President Harry S. Truman and selects students with demonstrated leadership, public service commitment, and potential for graduate study success.

Full-time undergraduates at accredited four-year U.S. colleges entering sophomore, junior, or senior year with at least a 3.2 GPA may compete in the annual FSF Case Study Scholarship by developing a discipline-specific fashion industry case study. Up to 160 awards are granted, with standard awards of $10,000 and top finalists receiving up to $25,000. Funds may be applied to tuition, intern housing, study abroad, and other educational expenses. International students with F-1 visas may participate with required CPT documentation. Submit through the FSF application portal.

California college sophomores or juniors who have completed at least one year of college and will not graduate before June may apply for Donald A. Strauss Scholarships by proposing an innovative student-generated public service project. Up to 15 recipients each receive $15,000 to fund their project. Submit application materials including a project proposal, budget, timeline, personal essay, transcript, and two letters of recommendation by February 9. Selected recipients attend a mandatory meeting and serve as Strauss Ambassadors on campus. The foundation, established in 1997, promotes public service in preparing future leaders.

U.S. citizen medical students who resided in Allegheny County at least 12 months before registering and are entering or enrolled in their third or fourth year at a Pennsylvania medical school may apply. One $12,000 scholarship is awarded through the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Apply July 1 through September 30. The fund was established by the Allegheny County Medical Society Foundation to assist local students with medical school costs.

Full-time U.S. college juniors and seniors with a minimum 3.4 GPA who are pursuing business or technology careers and plan to enter the workforce directly after graduation may apply for the KMF Professional Excellence Scholarship. The $12,000 award is paid as $3,000 per semester over two years. The program also includes mentoring, group sessions, and performance-based bonuses focused on professional excellence and entrepreneurship. Review the KMF website and submit the application when it opens each spring.

Female college juniors who are U.S. citizens enrolled at an accredited U.S. academic institution, with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, and whose studies in entertainment and technology show exceptional promise may apply for the Hedy Lamarr Achievement Award for Emerging Leaders in Entertainment Technology. One $10,000 award may be used at the recipient’s discretion to further academic or professional goals in entertainment technology. The winner is announced in November at a ceremony honoring Lamarr’s legacy. Complete the DEG application and submit proof of eligibility, including GPA verification and U.S. citizenship documentation. Austrian-American actress Hedy Lamarr was also an inventor whose work on frequency hopping helped lay groundwork for spread-spectrum technology.

U.S. citizen college sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled full time in fall who demonstrate financial need and are pursuing degrees in civil, mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, or related engineering fields may apply for IMEG engineering scholarships. Awards are up to $10,000 for underrepresented students with strong potential. Submit two recommendation letters and an unofficial transcript. Applicants must not be employed at IMEG or related to an IMEG employee. IMEG, a 100% employee-owned firm, supports the next generation of engineering innovators.

New Jersey residents who are undergraduate juniors or seniors, or graduate students, with at least 15 completed undergraduate credits and a 3.3 or higher GPA may apply for Land Conservancy of New Jersey scholarships while pursuing environmental science, conservation, natural resource management, or related fields at an accredited college or university. The conservancy awards ten scholarships of $10,000 each, paid directly to the recipient's institution. Submit a resume, a 500-word essay, an official transcript, and two letters of recommendation by the April 1 deadline. For decades the Land Conservancy has supported New Jersey students preparing for careers protecting natural resources, with a selection process committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Rising juniors at accredited minority-serving institutions with a minimum 3.2 GPA majoring in NOAA mission STEM or social science fields may apply for the NOAA EPP/MSI Undergraduate Scholarship. Recipients receive up to $9,500 per academic year for junior and senior years, plus two paid NOAA summer internships and travel and conference support. Submit an application with transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement. Selected students attend a two-week NOAA orientation and complete internships during both summers.

Sophomores at accredited U.S. colleges with a minimum 3.0 GPA majoring in fields that support NOAA's mission, including STEM and social sciences, may apply. Up to 118 scholars receive up to $9,500 per academic year for two years of full-time study, plus a paid 10-week NOAA summer internship between award years with a $700 weekly stipend. Submit the Hollings Scholarship application by January 31. Selected scholars attend a NOAA orientation and Science and Education Symposium, complete the summer internship at a NOAA facility, and present research findings. Community college students planning to transfer to a four-year program and third-year students in five-year programs are also eligible.
