Scholarships at MacEwan University

Any qualified applicant (individual or group) planning further study in Ukrainian choral or vocal music. Courses of study or workshops in progress or recently completed are considered, with a limit of one submission per applicant. The award is $1,500. Submit about a one-page written description of the course or workshop and how it will support Ukrainian choral or vocal music study, through MacEwan University's Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre. The award commemorates Roman Soltykewych and his work fostering Ukrainian choral music.

Continuing full-time undergraduate students at MacEwan University in good standing who demonstrate financial need may apply when the Financial Aid competition opens in myStudentSystem. Five $1,000 bursaries are available. At least one goes to a student of Aboriginal origin, one to a visible minority student, and one to a person with a disability when all five are awarded. Remaining bursaries target students in Communication Studies (Journalism), Design Studies, Theatre Arts, Music, or Public Relations, with Theatre Production as an alternate if needed.

Full-time MacEwan University students (9 credits in three courses per term) who are intercollegiate Griffin Athletic Team athletes in good standing with a minimum 2.0 sessional GPA in the previous academic term may receive this scholarship. Award value and number vary by year. Students do not apply directly. Coaches nominate athletes for their sport; nominations must be approved by the Athletic Manager and validated by the student awards office. Awards are typically disbursed in the fall and winter terms. Athletic scholarships, awards, and bursaries cannot exceed the cost of tuition and mandatory fees.

Mature MacEwan University students in good academic standing enrolled in Early Learning and Child Care or Applied Human Service Administration may apply for this award. The award is worth $1,000. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay describing leadership and community service from the past three years, including level of involvement and time spent in those roles.

For a continuing full-time student enrolled in the Police and Investigations (Police Studies) program at MacEwan University who demonstrates financial need. One $500 bursary is available. Apply by the January 15 deadline.
