Newfoundland and Labrador Scholarships

Current residents of one of the four Atlantic provinces entering first year of any Queen's University undergraduate degree. Selection considers academic excellence, leadership, school or community involvement, and demonstrated financial need. Up to 10 renewable awards of $20,000 to $30,000 per year for up to four years of study. Submit a Financial Aid and Awards Profile and the Major Admission Awards application.

Full-time undergraduate students at the University of Ottawa who work as student mentors in a faculty, are not Ontario residents (as per OSAP rules), demonstrate financial need, and show strong academic, leadership, and coaching skills may apply. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, persons with protected or refugee status, and international students. Awards are $4,500 or more, up to the cost of tuition for one full academic year. Apply via uoZone by November 3 with the Financial Questionnaire, transcript, CV, a 500-word letter on your mentor experience, and a reference letter.

Full-time Memorial University undergraduates who are dependents or spouses of A. Harvey & Company Limited employees, hold scholarship standing as defined by the university, and hold no other concurrent scholarship. Preference is given to entrance students; if none are eligible, a senior undergraduate may be considered. Need is the tiebreaker among equal academic candidates. Two annual scholarships of $2,500 are available. Applications are collected by the company and due the last Friday of July.

Registered nurses and nurse practitioners in good standing with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses who are members of the NL Registered Nurses' Education and Research Trust and enrolled full-time or part-time in a Master of Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing program at a recognized university may apply for the Graduate Nursing Scholarship. Applicants need a minimum overall average of 70% in their current program (or previous program if in first year), must demonstrate above-average interest in a particular area of nursing, and must not be a prior recipient. Preference goes to applicants who have completed at least one year of their program. The award is $2,000 for full-time study or $1,000 for part-time study. Apply by October 15 with the Graduate Nursing Scholarship Application Form and required supporting documentation. The Dr. Elizabeth Summers Graduate Study Award goes to the highest-ranked Master of Nursing applicant; all MN applicants are considered for both.

Indigenous women from Mi'kma'ki, Nunatsiavut, or Atlantic Canada who attend a Canadian post-secondary institution may apply. Applicants must have completed the equivalent of one year of post-secondary study within the previous two years. Awards of $500 to $2,000 are based on scholastic achievement, service to Indigenous communities, and financial need. Apply through CFNS's Cognito Forms portal by July 30 each year. The fund honors Inuk scholar and MMIWG advocate Loretta Saunders, established in 2014.

NL Registered Nurses' Education and Research Trust scholarship for full-time year-2 BScN (Collaborative) students at a Newfoundland and Labrador school of nursing with at least a 70% first-year average who demonstrate a caring, client-focused approach and commitment to nursing. One award of $1,000. Each school nominates one candidate; applications go through the school of nursing with transcript, faculty/clinical reference, and the candidate's application. Established by the Hillyard family in memory of their sister Flo.

Twelve $1,000 youth scholarships across NLHC's Avalon, East/Central, and Western/Labrador regions for 2026 high school graduates entering full-time post-secondary study in fall 2026. Parent or guardian must be an NLHC tenant, rent-supplement recipient, or occupant of NLHC-subsidized co-op or partner-managed housing with the lease in good standing. Selection uses the student's Academic or Honours graduation average. Mail or submit the official youth application before the September postmark deadline.

Applicants may qualify if they are a 150 RCAF Wing member or a relative of a member, an Air Force veteran or a relative of a veteran, or an Air Cadet or former Air Cadet of the 515 North Atlantic Squadron who served at least two years in good standing. One scholarship with a variable award amount is available. Apply through the 150 RCAF Wing Memorial Scholarship program.

Students entering second, third, or fourth year in the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy program at Dalhousie University who are from the Atlantic Provinces may apply. Candidates need satisfactory academic standing and demonstrated financial need. One bursary is awarded; the amount varies.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents with strong ties to Atlantic Canada who graduated from an Atlantic Canadian university and are entering the first year of a full-time master's or doctoral program at the University of Toronto can be nominated for the C. David Naylor University Fellowships. These are prestigious one-year entrance fellowships. If a recipient's program is funded, the fellowship is awarded in addition to the program's normal funding commitment. Catalog amount is listed as varies; confirm the current value with SGS. Nominations are made by graduate units based on admission applications. Candidates should tell their prospective unit they wish to be considered and must be available for an interview. Selection weighs academic excellence, leadership, community service, and ties to Atlantic Canada. The fellowships were endowed by a gift from the Arthur L. Irving Foundation in honour of former U of T president C. David Naylor.
