Graduate Scholarships in Canada

Open to domestic and international students registered full-time in PhD, DMA, and Master's (except full cost-recovery) degree programs at UBC Vancouver administered through the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Funded by the Graduate Support Initiative, awards may be given as entrance awards, multi-year funding awards, tuition awards, or scholarship top-up awards, with amounts varying by cycle. Selection is made on the recommendation of faculties or graduate programs in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, with no separate application.

Open to graduate students in the Department of Language and Literacy Education (LLED) at UBC Vancouver who are enrolled in the Literacy Education (LITR), Modern Languages Education (MLED), or Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) programs. Award values vary. There is no student application; the awards are made annually on the recommendation of the Department of Language and Literacy Education, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Open to graduate students in Chemistry at UBC Vancouver. Fellowship funding is available, with amounts varying by cycle. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Chemistry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, with no separate application.

Open to UBC Vancouver graduate students pursuing studies in Sociology. Endowed scholarships support graduate study in the Department of Sociology. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Sociology in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.

Francophone Canadian graduate students at UBC Vancouver are eligible. The award is made through the Affiliated Fellowships competition. Fellowships are funded through a $16,000 endowment by Kruger Products Limited and the Province of British Columbia. The per-recipient value is not published on reachable pages. No separate student application is required. The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies makes the recommendation.

Open to UBC graduate students who conduct research that is integral to their academic program and that contributes to their faculty supervisor's research project. Stipend amounts vary. Stipends are offered on the recommendation of UBC faculty members in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Supervisors assign the stipend through UBC's student award system.

Full-time doctoral candidates at the University of Ottawa who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, persons with protected or refugee status, or international students, demonstrate financial need, and show outstanding potential in their field. Preference for students in their fifth year of study. Minimum $4,000. Apply via uoZone with the Financial Questionnaire, CV, unofficial transcript, a supervisor recommendation estimating remaining work, and a graduate program director support letter. Deadline November 3. BMO Graduate Bursaries help PhD candidates whose progress may otherwise be compromised.

Domestic and eligible international students registered or intending to register full-time in an eligible master's or doctoral program at the University of Toronto can apply for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS). The OGS is a one-year merit award jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and U of T. Catalog amount is listed as varies; confirm the current per-session value and duration with your graduate unit. Apply through the U of T OGS online application to each graduate unit you want to be considered by. Each unit sets its own deadline and may add requirements. Applicants generally need at least an A- average in each of the last two completed years of study (or an overall A- on graduate courses if already past two years of graduate study).

Laurier graduate students enrolled in professional (course-based) master's programs who hold eligible major external awards (OGS, QEII-GSST, or Tri-Council). Top-up funding of $1,000 offered as part of admission funding packages. No separate application.

Full-time graduate students in Combinatorics and Optimization at the University of Waterloo who demonstrate excellence in academic or research work may be considered. Award amounts vary. The department determines the value and recipients annually.
