Athletic Scholarships

NCAA graduating senior student-athletes with a 3.50 or higher GPA who competed at the varsity level and plan full-time accredited graduate study may be nominated. Two recipients are selected each year, one male and one female. Each receives $24,000 per year, renewable for a second year of graduate study. Nomination is required from the institution's Faculty Athletics Representative. The Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement and potential for success in graduate study.

The Foot Locker Foundation awards renewable college scholarships to 20 high school seniors who are active in school, intramural, or community sports and demonstrate leadership and community impact. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 GPA, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, and plans to enroll at an accredited two- or four-year U.S. college. The application requires two essays and one recommendation; 19 recipients receive $5,000 per year for four years and one Ken C. Hicks Scholar receives $6,250 per year.

Minnesota high school senior student-athletes planning to compete on a Division 2, Division 3, junior college, or NAIA roster at a Minnesota college may apply for the Grow the Dream Foundation Scholarship. One recipient per graduating class receives a merit scholarship of $10,000 toward tuition. The program includes an application, a 500-word essay or 5-minute video, two recommendation letters, and an interview. The Grow the Dream Foundation helps dedicated athletes continue their sport and studies in Minnesota.

NCAA student-athletes in their final season of athletics eligibility or who have completed eligibility, in their final undergraduate year or holding a bachelor's degree, with a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA and varsity-level competition may be nominated by their institution. A one-time $10,000 postgraduate scholarship. Up to 126 awards are granted annually across fall, winter, and spring sport nomination windows. Nominees must enroll in graduate study within one year of receiving the award.

The Ithaca College Leadership Scholar Program selects up to sixty incoming first-year and transfer students each fall who demonstrate a record of leadership and above-average academic performance. Recipients receive an annual scholarship and join a cohort focused on leadership workshops, Service Saturday community projects, mentorship, and campus involvement. Applicants must apply for fall admission to Ithaca College, then complete the separate Leadership Scholar application in IC Connect by December 1; spring admits are ineligible. Renewal requires full-time enrollment, continued demonstration of leadership, participation in required program activities, membership in a campus organization or athletic team, and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 at the end of each semester.

The Vianna Briscoe and Timothy Weldon Endowed Scholarship Fund supports fully matriculated Morgan State University undergraduates with at least a 2.5 GPA who demonstrate financial need and major in eligible STEM and related fields. Qualifying majors include mathematics, industrial, civil, electrical, transportation systems, mechatronics, and environmental engineering, city and regional planning, and entrepreneurship. Student-athletes in good academic standing may qualify, and awards may renew throughout matriculation if requirements are maintained. Based on endowment projections, scholarships may range from five thousand to six thousand dollars annually.

Female high school seniors in the United States or Canada with strong academics, community service, and a letter of intent to play collegiate golf at a U.S. college may apply for one of twenty-five Marilynn Smith Scholarships administered by Golf It Forward and the LPGA Foundation. Each recipient receives $5,000. Recipients are announced the spring after the application period. Apply through the LPGA Foundation scholarship portal when it opens each October. The fund was founded in 1999 by LPGA pioneer Marilynn Smith to support young women continuing golf at the collegiate level.

Students enrolled in public high school or college may apply regardless of race or ethnicity. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, demonstrated financial need, and two references from school officials. Grants of up to $5,000 honor resilience in sports, tech, or entertainment. Special consideration goes to student-athletes in Portland, Washington STEM students, and California or New York entertainment talent. Submit a 400-word personal statement describing your achievements and the challenges you have overcome along with the application form. The Women In Tech, Entertainment and Sports Prize is presented by Asian Hall of Fame and the Robert Chinn Foundation.

Female high school seniors who actively participate in golf (playing ability is not judged), hold at least a 3.5 GPA, demonstrate outstanding character and leadership, and need financial assistance to attend a four-year U.S. college may apply. Each scholarship pays $5,000 per year for up to four years. Up to twenty awards are given annually. Submit a two-page personal essay, FAFSA and tax documents, official transcript, high school evaluation form, and one recommendation from a non-relative to the foundation scholarship manager. The Women's Western Golf Foundation has awarded more than $4.7 million to over 720 young women since inception.

High school seniors and college students interested in a part- or full-time career writing about bowling may apply for the IBMA Chuck Pezzano Scholarship. Applicants must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, participate in bowling (skill level not required), and not exceed age 25 during the award year. Awards are up to $5,000. Submit an online application, school transcripts, at least one reference letter, and a bowling essay of up to 500 words.
