Agriculture Scholarships

Florida high school students in grades 9 through 12 at public, private, charter, virtual, or home-school programs may enter the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Farm to School Essay Contest. Three winners receive tiered college scholarships of up to $3,000 for first place, along with additional prizes. Write an original 500 to 800 word essay responding to one of three provided agriculture or nutrition topics. Include a short personal statement and submit via the online form. Essays must not include plagiarism or use of artificial intelligence.

Full-time undergraduate students attending a community college, university, or technical institution in Florida may apply. You must be an incoming freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled in a horticulture program or related field with intent to graduate in that field, and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA. The James H. Davis Memorial Scholarship through the National Horticulture Foundation provides awards ranging up to $3,000 to encourage careers in Florida's horticulture industry. Apply through the National Horticulture Foundation scholarship program by the January 15 deadline.

Rising sophomores through seniors at accredited U.S. colleges studying communications, journalism, marketing, business, economics, nutrition, food science, or agricultural education with interest in a dairy-related career may apply for scholarships from the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board through Dairy Management Inc. Up to eleven $2,500 scholarships are awarded annually. The outstanding recipient may also receive an additional memorial scholarship. Students may win in multiple years. Submit the online application, an official college transcript, and a short statement on career aspirations and dairy-related experience. Selection weighs academic achievement, dairy career interest, leadership, initiative, and integrity.

U.S. high school seniors and community college or university students enrolled in relevant STEM programs where fluid power is taught may apply for the NFPA Fluid Power Scholarship. Master's and PhD students, graduating seniors in May or June, and prior recipients reapplying with the same essay question are not eligible. Twenty awards of $2,500 each are granted annually. Funds may be used at any accredited U.S. technical college or university. Submit the Kaleidoscope application with 400 to 500 and 200-word essays, a transcript, enrollment verification, and a recommendation by the March 15 deadline.

Full-time Alabama students enrolled in an agricultural major emphasizing turfgrass management with at least a 2.0 GPA may apply for the Alabama Golf Course Superintendents Association turfgrass scholarship. One recipient receives $2,000 annually, presented at the Donnie Arthur Golf Tournament. The check is payable to the recipient's college bursar. Applications are available through turf management advisors at universities or the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. Submit your application during the open period. AGCSA awards this scholarship to support future golf course superintendents in their educational goals.

High school seniors, current undergraduates, or returning adult students from Antioch Township or neighboring communities majoring in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, botany, plant pathology, forestry, agronomy, environmental concerns, city planning, land management, or allied fields may apply. One award of $2,000 is offered. Submit the application form with a recommendation letter from a non-relative, an official transcript, and a 500-word or shorter personal statement on your background, future goals, and commitment to your chosen career. Named for founding Antioch Garden Club member Nancy Zitkus, a dedicated former club treasurer.

Employees of Kershaw Companies and children of those employees who plan to attend a community college, technical or trade school, or university may apply through the Washington Apple Education Foundation. One $1,500 Brian Kershaw Memorial Scholarship is offered annually and may be renewed for up to four years. Preference goes to students pursuing agriculture and degrees in accounting, business administration, economics, or marketing. Apply through WAEF's scholarship application by March 1.

High school seniors or current college students in Colorado pursuing animal-related majors may apply for the Cavalier Trail Riding Club's $1,000 one-time scholarship. Submit a resume or personal statement, two non-family recommendation letters, and transcripts via the club's online application or downloadable form by June 30. The award supports students committed to animal sciences and related fields.

High school seniors accepted to and enrolled in a two- or four-year college or university who plan to major in agricultural, equine, or livestock-related studies may apply. One $1,000 scholarship is awarded. Applicants should show community volunteerism outside school and participation in extracurricular activities. Applications require a guidance counselor endorsement. Funds are paid directly to the college upon enrollment verification. Farm and Ranch Depot supports the next generation of students entering agriculture-related careers.

High school seniors and undergraduate students majoring in agricultural studies with a livestock industry focus may apply for the Andy Peek Livestock Endowed Scholarship through the Community Foundation of the North State. The fund awards $500 scholarships to up to twenty students attending or planning to attend a junior college, state college, or university. Submit the online application by the November deadline with required documentation. The scholarship was established by the Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale in memory of Andy Peek, who spent over four decades in the livestock auction industry in Cottonwood, California.
