Scholarships for Adult & Returning Students

The Scholarship for Returning Students is administered by the Georgia State Alumni Association for Georgia State undergraduates who left school for at least two years and returned to finish an associate or bachelor's degree. Applications open each November and close in February for fall-semester awards. Recipients must be currently enrolled or have returned to Georgia State after the qualifying break in enrollment. This award recognizes non-traditional students who resume their education after time away from college and supports them as they complete their credential at Georgia State University.

The Undergrad Continuing Student Scholarship is a competitive University of Rochester award for returning undergraduates who will enroll the next academic year, excluding Take 5 and E5 participants. Unlike incoming merit programs, this scholarship requires a separate Financial Aid Office application typically due in the spring along with a faculty or staff recommendation letter. Roughly thirty students receive awards up to $2,500 for the upcoming year, and past winners may reapply. It supplements aid for continuing River Campus undergraduates who demonstrate strong academic standing and campus engagement.

Continuing Student Academic Scholarships are one-year BYU merit awards for former and continuing undergraduate students who complete at least twelve BYU credit hours as a daytime continuing student and submit the scholarship application by the deadline. Consideration is based on BYU cumulative GPA ranked within the student's college, with cutoffs set each year during awarding. Returning missionaries with twelve credits and a mission deferment form may be automatically considered for the semester they return. Students must declare a major by the January 2 deadline or are evaluated as open-major students.

The UT Scholarship Application for Continuing and Transfer Students in LASSO awards university-wide scholarships to eligible enrolled undergraduates, admitted transfer students, readmitted returning students, and Coordinated Admission Program transfers waiting to enroll by June 1. The application opens each November and is due March 15 at midnight Central Time for the following academic year. Continuing students search and apply for multiple named university scholarships through one application. Transfer applicants must have completed admission or have an active transfer application. Awards may be merit- or need-based depending on individual fund criteria listed in LASSO.

Returning UW-Stout undergraduates may apply for the Multicultural Affinity Group Scholarship, which provides $2,500 to students who demonstrate personal achievement, resilience, and leadership through employment, community service, extracurricular activities, or other engagement. Eligible applicants are U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA who are first-generation, low-income, and/or active in campus affinity organizations. FAFSA submission may factor in need. Apply through the MSS portal by May 1 with all required materials. This process is separate from the Foundation universal scholarship application.

The Continuing Excellence Scholarship provides two thousand five hundred dollars toward tuition for one academic year, split across fall, spring, and summer for up to thirty credit hours. Returning NWSCC students who have not earned an associate degree may apply through the institutional scholarship application with a minimum NWSCC cumulative GPA of 2.75 and at least thirty completed credit hours passed at the college. Recipients may reapply for one additional year and must complete twenty-seven credit hours annually to maintain eligibility.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University awards continuing student academic scholarships of $1,900 for the academic year to enrolled undergraduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 to 4.0 who complete the Continuing Student Scholarship Application by March 15. Recipients must be enrolled full time with at least 12 credit hours and have successfully completed 24 credit hours at NWOSU during the previous academic year. Awards are based on full-time enrollment at Northwestern and require annual reapplication because institutional scholarships are not automatically renewed. Applicants are encouraged to file the FAFSA when applying for financial aid.

Women age 23 or older who are residents of Elmhurst, Addison, Bensenville, Berkeley, Northlake, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, or Villa Park, Illinois, and have completed at least 12 credit hours at an accredited college may apply for AAUW Elmhurst Area returning-student grants. Three awards of $3,500 are offered. Grants support undergraduate or graduate study, full or part time. Submit the online application with a resume, official acceptance letter, professional recommendation, transcript, and a personal background and goals essay. The Elmhurst Area Branch offers grants to local women who need financial help to continue their education.

The Duck Excellence Scholarship for continuing and transfer students recognizes enrolled domestic undergraduates who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and contribute cultural perspectives that enrich the UO community. Recipients receive seven thousand five hundred dollars per year split evenly across terms. Continuing UO students apply through the UO Scholarship Dashboard by March 2 with a reference letter and FAFSA or ORSAA filed by March 1. Transfer students apply for UO admission by March 15 and submit the Duck Excellence application by April 1 with transcripts due April 1. Preference is given to students with financial need, first-generation students, and Oregon residents.

The CFCC Foundation Continuing Education Scholarship supports students in selected workforce continuing education programs at Cape Fear Community College, including Electrical Lineworker, Electrical Apprenticeship, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Alarm Safety, Law Enforcement, and Nurse Aide training. Students complete the Continuing Education Scholarship application on the Economic and Workforce Development financial assistance page.
