About this scholarship
Women pursuing undergraduate studies in transportation or a related field may compete for this national scholarship after winning at the chapter level.
One $5,000 Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded. The fund honors Sharon D. Banks, former general manager of the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District.
Applications are submitted through local WTS chapters with transcripts, recommendation letters, and a personal statement. Chapter deadlines vary.

- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
- Official copy of transcript attached to application
- One letter of recommendation by a professor or job supervisor
- Proof of enrollment (copy of tuition receipt or current registration card)
- List of professional/school affiliations, activities, offices held, and awards
- Employment/work experience history
- Applications must be submitted through local WTS chapters as typed documents

- Personal statement must address transportation career goals, leadership's importance in transportation, and the applicant's leadership achievements.
