About this scholarship
U.S. citizens or permanent residents pursuing a PhD in applied physical sciences, biological sciences, mathematics, or engineering may apply for the Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship. Applicants must be college seniors, first-year graduate students, or in a gap year preparing for graduate study and must morally commit to making their skills available to the United States in times of national emergency.
Fellowships provide a cost-of-education allowance and personal stipend, with total funding packages valued at up to $250,000 over five years. Fellows may pursue research at participating U.S. universities and join a lifelong network of Hertz Fellows.
Submit an online application with academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and personal essays. Finalists participate in multiple interview rounds.
