About this scholarship
Women with a 3.0 or higher GPA enrolled in undergraduate or graduate transportation-related programs at schools in Oregon or southwest Washington may apply.
The WTS Portland Chapter awards three Gail Achterman Leadership Scholarships of $5,000 each. Eligible programs include transportation engineering, planning, finance, communications, operations, and logistics, as well as junior college and trade school pathways.
Submit an application highlighting transportation goals, academic achievements, and transportation-related activities. Chapter deadlines vary.

- Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
- Proof of enrollment
- Open to all women
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Currently enrolled in an Oregon or SW Washington (Cowlitz, Clark, Lewis, Pacific, Skamania, or Wahkiakum counties) junior college/trade school, undergraduate, or graduate program in a transportation-r
- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
- Not previously awarded a WTS scholarship at the Graduate level
- Two letters of recommendation by a professor or job supervisor
- Official transcript(s) from all colleges/universities attended (GPA 3.0+ required)
- Proof of enrollment (copy of tuition receipt or current registration card)
- Completed application form (submitted electronically as typed Word doc or PDF; resume optional)
- Deadline: Sunday, December 21, 2025
- Junior-college and trade-school transportation pathways are also eligible.
