Underrepresented high school seniors and college students attending full time at Brighthouse Scholar Connections partner schools in the Charlotte, North Carolina area may apply. Awards provide up to $10,000 per year, renewable for up to four years with reapplication, for a maximum of $40,000. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and maintain at least a 2.7 GPA. Submit a personal statement, writing sample, resume, academic transcripts, and a letter of recommendation. High school seniors also submit a college acceptance letter. Brighthouse Scholar Connections, Inc. supports first-generation students, historically underrepresented groups, and students from schools with low graduation rates or funding.

Applicants must be college seniors, first-year graduate students, or in a gap year preparing for graduate study and must morally commit to making their skills available to the United States in times of national emergency. Fellowships provide a cost-of-education allowance and personal stipend, with total funding packages valued at up to $250,000 over five years. Fellows may pursue research at participating U.S. universities and join a lifelong network of Hertz Fellows. Submit an online application with academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and personal essays. Finalists participate in multiple interview rounds.
