Students ages 11 to 19 anywhere in the world may enter the 2027 Science Without Borders Challenge by creating original, hand-made two-dimensional artwork for the theme “Navigate with Care.” Entrants must be enrolled in primary or secondary school or the homeschool equivalent; college and university students are not eligible.
The challenge awards $500 for first place, $350 for second place, and $200 for third place in each of two age groups, plus two $50 People’s Choice awards.
The online entry requires a teacher sponsor, parent or guardian contact information, two photographs showing the artwork in progress, and one image of the finished artwork. Entrants ages 11 or 12 must also provide the required COPPA parental-consent form. Entries close March 1, 2027 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.

Women who are U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents admitted to full-time graduate study in statistics by July 1 may apply for the American Statistical Association Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship. Two recipients are selected each year, one early-stage and one advanced graduate student, each receiving $1,000 and a certificate. Applications are due March 1 and require a personal essay of at least one double-spaced page covering program goals, career plans, and leadership or service experience. The scholarship was established in 1989 to encourage more women to enter statistically oriented professions.
Current or former wards of the court in Kent County, Michigan pursuing undergraduate college or vocational education may apply for the Donald J. DeYoung Scholarship through the Grand Rapids Community Foundation general application. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, hold at least a 2.5 GPA, and provide a letter of recommendation from a caseworker. Award amounts vary. Kent County, Michigan residents who have lived in the county at least five years and hold a 2.75 or higher GPA while pursuing undergraduate fine arts study, including painting, may apply for the Mathilda and Carolyn Gallmeyer Scholarship through the Grand Rapids Community Foundation general application. Award amounts go up to $1,000. Recipients are selected based on artistic talent, academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, a personal statement, and financial need.
