Women who are U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents admitted to full-time graduate study in statistics by July 1 may apply for the American Statistical Association Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship. Two recipients are selected each year, one early-stage and one advanced graduate student, each receiving $1,000 and a certificate. Applications are due March 1 and require a personal essay of at least one double-spaced page covering program goals, career plans, and leadership or service experience. The scholarship was established in 1989 to encourage more women to enter statistically oriented professions.
Current or former wards of the court in Kent County, Michigan pursuing undergraduate college or vocational education may apply for the Donald J. DeYoung Scholarship through the Grand Rapids Community Foundation general application.
