Katharine Kingsmill Burdick Bursary

Doctoral students in Quebec across natural sciences, health, and society and culture sectors may apply for FRQ Doctoral Training Scholarships. Canadian citizens or permanent residents with RAMQ coverage, or applicants with proof of admission or a supervisor acceptance at a Quebec university, are eligible. Applicants cannot have completed more than 14 full-time doctoral terms as of May 1 following the deadline. The award is valued at $25,000 per year for up to four years. Students entering their graduating year in chemical or mechanical engineering at Western University may apply. One award of $1,000 is granted annually. Obtain application forms from the Office of the Registrar and submit by the deadline.

Residents of Cypress County, Medicine Hat, or Redcliff pursuing college or university study in an agricultural or home economics program. Two bursaries of $1,000 each. Apply to the Agricultural Service Board by September 30 with an application form, Grade 12 marks, a college or university acceptance letter, and a list of planned courses.

Third- or fourth-year undergraduate students in nursing and psychology programs who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial need may qualify. Preference is given to students with an interest in community development and/or the health of seniors. OTSS guidelines apply. One award is granted annually. The prize amount varies.

For a Queen's University Commerce student entering third year who has improved life on campus and in the greater Kingston community through committed leadership and has supported others through teamwork, motivation, and example. One prize is awarded annually. The amount varies. Students may be nominated by classmates (five signatures from third-year Commerce students required) or apply to the Director of the Commerce Program. Nominations and applications are due by September 30. The Commerce Program Awards Committee selects the recipient. University of Toronto School of the Environment full- or part-time undergraduates enrolled in a School program may apply. Preference goes to students focusing on environment and development, though other environmental students remain eligible. One or more awards of $2,000.
