Awards provide up to $10,000 per year, renewable for up to four years with reapplication, for a maximum of $40,000. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and maintain at least a 2.7 GPA. Submit a personal statement, writing sample, resume, academic transcripts, and a letter of recommendation. High school seniors also submit a college acceptance letter. Brighthouse Scholar Connections, Inc. supports first-generation students, historically underrepresented groups, and students from schools with low graduation rates or funding.

Fellowships provide a cost-of-education allowance and personal stipend, with total funding packages valued at up to $250,000 over five years. Fellows may pursue research at participating U.S. universities and join a lifelong network of Hertz Fellows.
