Scholarships at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point

The S-STEM Scholars Program provides a renewable last-dollar scholarship of up to $10,000 per year for up to eight semesters to high-achieving, low-income undergraduates majoring in biology, chemistry, or biochemistry at UW-Stevens Point. Scholars must be Pell-eligible, complete the FAFSA, intend to enter the STEM workforce or graduate study in a STEM field, and maintain full-time enrollment with a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA. Participants join cohort activities including supplemental instruction, paid research, faculty mentoring, and career advising. Pre-professional tracks such as pre-medical or pre-dental are not eligible.

The Oscar W. Neale Fellowship awards $10,000 for an aspirational professional development project led by a UW-Stevens Point faculty member, staff member, or student in collaboration with one or more PK-12 schools, districts, or agencies in Central Wisconsin. Proposals must honor Oscar Neale's legacy of enriching PK-12 students' academic and personal lives and must designate a single project leader. The fellow presents results at the annual School of Education Celebration of Teaching and Learning. Applications are due September 10. Individuals and groups may apply.

The Harju Center Rural Student Teaching Scholarship provides $4,000 to UW-Stevens Point teacher candidates completing student teaching in a Wisconsin school district designated as rural by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Applicants submit an online form with an essay explaining their fit for the award and how rural student teaching supports their career goals, plus two professional letters of recommendation including one from an education professor. The Henry C. Kurtz Forestry Scholarship remembers Henry Kurtz, an Adams County tree farmer and Nekoosa Tree Farm Family member who donated his tree farm to the College of Natural Resources in 1996. The scholarship supports a forestry student selected through the CNR scholarship application process, with awards typically ranging from $500 to $1,000. Current undergraduates in the College of Natural Resources apply during the annual fall scholarship window via the CNR form or UWSP Scholarship Portal and are notified by UWSP email if chosen.

The Donald and Eleanor Ansay Memorial Forestry Scholarship was established by UW-Stevens Point alumna Karen McCulloch to honor her parents' belief in education and their family's long connection to the university, including her brother Russell's 1973 forestry degree. Forestry students apply through the College of Natural Resources scholarship application, which distributes more than $200,000 in awards each year with typical individual amounts of $500 to $1,000. The Oscar W.
