Scholarships at University of Texas at Austin

University of Texas at Austin sophomores, juniors, or seniors at the time the scholarship is awarded, pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism, may apply. Majoring in journalism is not required. One $6,000 scholarship is awarded, and the recipient is invited to the RTDNA Foundation First Amendment Awards with travel covered. Apply through RTDNA's online portal with a cover letter, resume, three to five work samples, and one recommendation.

Full-time male students at the University of Texas at Austin with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 may apply for Acacia Fraternity leadership scholarships of up to $1,000. Incoming freshmen are evaluated on final high school GPA. Fraternity membership is not required. Applicants should demonstrate past leadership in school, student council, community service organizations, or similar groups, along with integrity, compassion, and the ability to motivate others. Hispanic students who are current freshmen or sophomores at the University of Texas at Austin may apply for this scholarship recognizing Hispanic student accomplishments. The award is $1,000. Recipients must maintain satisfactory progress toward their degree as determined by Texas Exes procedures. The Hispanic Faculty and Staff Association established the endowment, given in honor of Dennis and Cedora Anderson, and it may support multiple years of undergraduate study.

The Betty Wilson and James Everett Key Endowed Presidential Scholarship supports junior or senior undergraduates enrolled full-time in UT Austin's College of Natural Sciences. Recipients must have completed at least forty-five credit hours in residence at UT Austin and maintain a minimum 3.75 cumulative GPA. Students apply through the CNS Common Scholarship Application in LASSO, which opens each spring with a March 15 deadline for the following academic year. The award is merit-based and renewable while recipients meet fund requirements and remain full-time CNS majors. Selection considers academic achievement among eligible upper-division natural sciences students.

The Edward Sibley Lewis, M.D. Endowed Presidential Pre-Medical Scholarship supports pre-medical undergraduate UT Austin students who are Texas residents enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.75 GPA and at least forty-five credit hours in residence at the university. Preference is given to Biochemistry majors among eligible applicants. Students apply through the CNS Common Scholarship Application in LASSO by March 15 for the following academic year. The award recognizes strong academic preparation for medical school among continuing College of Natural Sciences students. Recipients must remain fully enrolled during semesters considered for and receiving the award.

The Jack S. Gray, Jr. Endowed Presidential Scholarship is among the School of Health and Human Sciences undergraduate awards totaling more than two hundred thousand dollars in annual need- and merit-based funding for UT Austin students. Current HHS undergraduates apply through the College of Natural Sciences Common Scholarship Application in LASSO by March 15 for the following academic year. Students graduating in May or August 2026 are ineligible. Recipients must submit thank-you letters to donors when required. The common application also determines Health Professions scholarships, out-of-state tuition waivers, and other HHS departmental awards for which students qualify.

The Laura L'Esperance Study Abroad Scholarship supports Moody College of Communication undergraduates participating in a summer study abroad program with a communication focus. At least one course taken abroad must be in communications, and acceptable expenses may include travel, program fees, application fees, and books associated with the approved program. The application opens on a periodic cycle announced by Moody College; the page currently indicates the next cycle opens in spring 2027. Eligible students must be Moody College majors enrolled at UT Austin planning an approved summer study abroad experience tied to communication studies.

The UT Scholarship Application for Continuing and Transfer Students in LASSO awards university-wide scholarships to eligible enrolled undergraduates, admitted transfer students, readmitted returning students, and Coordinated Admission Program transfers waiting to enroll by June 1. The application opens each November and is due March 15 at midnight Central Time for the following academic year. Continuing students search and apply for multiple named university scholarships through one application. Transfer applicants must have completed admission or have an active transfer application.
