Scholarships at Southwestern College

The Bishop Scholarship at Southwestern College supports international students with church ties who will enroll full time in a main-campus undergraduate program and participate in Discipleship SC, Leadership SC, or Worship Outreach. The Institute for Discipleship provides $5,000 annually as part of a broader aid package intended to help Bishop Scholars graduate without debt. Two scholarships are awarded for each fall start. Applicants complete a two-page public application with contact information and five personal statements by February 1.

Every finalist who attends a Southwestern College full-tuition scholarship competition day receives a renewable one thousand dollar scholarship, even if not selected as one of the five full-tuition winners. This award applies across all competition tracks including accounting, natural science, nursing, education, and performing arts. Finalists must participate in the on-campus competition event to receive the scholarship. The award stacks with other institutional aid policies in effect for the competition year and renews for up to ten semesters when recipients maintain a two point zero cumulative GPA and remain enrolled full time on the Winfield residential campus.

The Mastin Natural Science Full-Tuition Scholarship at Southwestern College supports incoming first-year students in the natural science division, including biology, biochemistry, chemistry, health science, and mathematics majors. Preferred candidates hold at least a three point seven cumulative high school GPA and an ACT composite score of twenty-six or higher, or an equivalent SAT score. Applicants must submit the competition application and complete admission by November fourth. Semi-finalists attend an on-campus event November fifteenth, and five finalists complete virtual faculty interviews for a chance at a full-tuition award covering four years of study in the sciences.

Southwestern College’s Education Full-Tuition Scholarship competition supports incoming first-year students preparing for careers as licensed teachers. Preferred candidates hold at least a three point zero cumulative high school GPA or an ACT composite of twenty or higher, or an equivalent SAT score. The competition application opens December first and all materials are due January twentieth, with competition day on January thirty-first. Qualified students complete essay and activity components in semi-finals and finalists interview with education faculty for full-tuition awards covering four years. Southwestern has prepared educators since eighteen eighty-five through accredited teacher preparation programs.
