Scholarships at University of Puget Sound

The Matelich Scholarship recognizes two entering first-year students each year who demonstrate exceptional motivation, academic potential, commitment to service, integrity, and leadership. Applicants must submit a completed admission application and separate Matelich Scholarship application by December 1. The award covers one hundred percent of Puget Sound tuition and fees, including standard double room, standard medium meal plan, and the student government fee, for up to four years. Recipients must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA, demonstrate leadership and service development, and write an annual report on their pursuits.

Since 2015, University of Puget Sound has partnered with The Posse Foundation to recruit outstanding student leaders from the San Francisco Bay Area. Each year Puget Sound selects ten public high school students who receive a full-tuition scholarship regardless of financial need. The Posse Foundation coordinates the application and nomination process; students apply through Posse rather than directly to Puget Sound for this award. Posse Scholars enroll as full-time undergraduates and participate in the Posse cohort program throughout their Puget Sound education.

The Hurley Community Service Scholarship recognizes currently enrolled University of Puget Sound undergraduates who engage in planned and focused community service projects. Applicants submit materials through the current-student scholarship Google Form by the March 17 deadline each year. Selection considers the student's commitment to structured service work and alignment with the scholarship's community engagement mission. Award amounts vary by year and available funding. Recipients may be asked to write a thank-you letter to donors, and awards are applied toward tuition and unmet institutional need.

The LGBTQ+ Leadership Scholarship at University of Puget Sound recognizes currently enrolled undergraduates who demonstrate involvement in the LGBTQ+ community. Established by Puget Sound alumni, the award is open to all current undergraduate students regardless of major. Applicants complete the current-student scholarship Google Form with materials due March 17 annually. Selection weighs leadership and engagement within LGBTQ+ communities on campus and beyond. Award amounts vary by funding availability and are applied toward tuition and unmet need for full-time continuing students.
