Scholarships at Northern Illinois University

CEET program for first-generation college students who are members of the Society of Hispanic Engineers or Society of Women Engineers and have federally subsidized student loans. The maximum award is up to twenty thousand dollars toward loan repayment support. Open to all CEET majors at Northern Illinois University. Students apply through MyScholarships with the general application by the common January 31 deadline. This program helps eligible engineering students manage educational debt while completing their NIU degree.

Donor-funded scholarship for CEET students majoring in manufacturing engineering technology, industrial management and technology, manufacturing systems, biomedical engineering, or engineering management at Northern Illinois University. The maximum award is eight thousand dollars. CEET offers more than twenty donor-funded scholarships applied through MyScholarships with a common January 31 deadline. Incoming CEET students are automatically considered for university merit scholarships upon admission and may apply for additional college awards once admitted.

Leadership fellowship for University Honors Program students who serve approximately twenty to twenty-five hours per month during the academic year mentoring incoming students, holding office hours, and helping design honors programming. Fellows receive a tuition waiver of five thousand to six thousand dollars per year, or two thousand five hundred to three thousand dollars per semester. Responsibilities include serving as mentors to first-year honors students and assisting with recruitment, service, and social programming. Interested honors students apply through MyScholarships for competitive selection.

Memorial scholarship honoring the five NIU students lost on February 14, 2008, awarding up to five five-thousand-dollar scholarships annually to continuing undergraduate students who have completed at least twelve semester hours at NIU. Applicants must demonstrate strength of character and maintain at least a 2.50 cumulative NIU GPA in good standing. The application through MyScholarships includes biographical information, three essay responses, and two recommendations including one from an NIU faculty or staff member. This is a one-time award; previous recipients are not eligible in subsequent years.

Donor-funded scholarship for students in any CEET major at Northern Illinois University with a maximum award of two thousand five hundred dollars. Apply through MyScholarships with the general NIU scholarship application; January 31 is the common deadline for CEET awards. The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology maintains more than twenty named donor scholarships for admitted students. Awards are competitive and support undergraduates pursuing engineering and engineering technology degrees at NIU.

Competitive one-time scholarship for transfer students who were active Phi Theta Kappa members at their community college and are admitted to NIU's University Honors Program. Recipients receive one thousand dollars in their first year when enrolled full time. Minimum eligibility includes a 3.5 cumulative transfer GPA and active PTK membership. Students are automatically considered when they submit a University Honors Program application by November 1 for spring transfer or March 1 for fall transfer. Selection considers leadership, service, and engagement in the PTK chapter.
