Scholarships at Lake Forest College

The Hixon Theater Scholarship provides talent-based funding for undergraduates at Lake Forest College who demonstrate commitment to theater, available to majors and non-majors including first-year and transfer students. Apply to Lake Forest, complete the Fine Arts Scholarship application, and submit an audition or portfolio by the deadline: March 1 for first-years, June 1 application with July 1 portfolio for fall transfers, or December 10 for spring transfers. Acting applicants prepare two contrasting monologues. To renew, enroll in at least one theater course annually, participate in two department productions per year, maintain a 2.0 GPA, and submit a spring renewal application.

The Durand Art Scholarship recognizes studio artists and art history students at Lake Forest College through talent-based awards for first-year and transfer undergraduates, including non-majors. After admission, complete the Fine Arts Scholarship application and submit a digital portfolio of about twenty images showing diverse work, plus an image list with titles, dimensions, media, and year. First-year materials are due March 1. Renewal requires completing at least one art or art history course each year, attending two gallery openings per semester at the Sonnenschein and Albright Galleries, participating in arts co-curricular activities, and maintaining a 2.0 cumulative GPA at Lake Forest College.

The Kevin D. Gorter Scholarship Award, funded by the Kevin Gorter Memorial Fund, supports academically excellent College of Lake County graduates with significant financial need who commute from Lake County, Illinois. Lake Forest meets full demonstrated need for tuition and fees for selected Gorter Scholars entering with junior standing. Applicants must be Pell-eligible through the FAFSA or RISE Act eligible, show strong academic achievement and extracurricular involvement at CLC, and preferably graduate with an AA or AS degree. Preference goes to students from Round Lake, North Chicago, Waukegan, or Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep. The committee selects recipients each fall through regular admission with no separate form.
