Scholarships at University of Delaware

The Alfred I. duPont Nursing Scholars Fund at the University of Delaware provides four thousand dollar awards to students enrolled in a doctoral nursing program. Two awards are granted each fall; if fewer than two eligible applicants qualify, one eight thousand dollar award may be issued instead. Candidates complete the School of Nursing scholarship application with a short essay and resume or CV outlining career goals after the doctoral degree under Areas of Interest. Applications are due August 1. Recipients must be matriculated doctoral nursing students meeting program academic standards.

The Dr. B.V. Rao Scholarship is a one thousand dollar annual University of Delaware award for a junior or senior in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences with coursework or research focused on poultry production such as breeding, disease, management, nutrition, or physiology. Applicants must demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA and hold at least a 2.0 GPA. Materials are emailed to anr-academics@udel.edu by April 15 each year. The scholarship may renew when criteria continue to be met. Selection supports CANR undergraduates pursuing poultry science careers.

The Donald J. Puglisi Scholarship Award is an annual University of Delaware endowment for a junior finance major who demonstrates overall academic excellence and sustained community service leadership. Applicants must be a current junior or rising senior in the finance major with at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA. The separate Lerner College application, resume, and faculty or advisor letter of reference are due May 15 each year. Financial need is not required. Recipients are selected by the college from completed submissions and notified in late June or early July.

The Robert L. Schweitzer Memorial Scholarship is an annual University of Delaware award for a rising senior in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics who is a Delaware resident with demonstrated financial need. Recipients must show involvement in club sports and a commitment to service while maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants submit the Lerner scholarship application, resume, and faculty or advisor reference by May 15. Need is determined through the FAFSA. The scholarship supports Delaware undergraduates completing their final year in any Lerner major.

The Dr. Jeanne K. Buxbaum Scholarship at the University of Delaware supports at least one undergraduate and one graduate nursing student interested in gerontological nursing, especially care of older adults with vision or other sensory impairments. Undergraduate applicants must be full-time nursing majors with at least a 3.0 GPA. The application, one- to two-page essay, and resume are emailed to Dr. Pia Inguito by May 15, followed by a scheduled interview before Commencement Day. Award amounts depend on endowment earnings and applicant quality. Decisions are announced in July for the next academic year.

The Clarice E. Wolf Education Scholarship is a need-based University of Delaware endowment for undergraduates in the School of Education who are Delaware residents and have volunteered with children through organizations such as Girls Inc., the UD Lab Preschool, Early Learning Center, or Center for Disability Studies. Applicants must have at least a 2.0 GPA and document financial need through the FAFSA. The special-requirements scholarship application is accepted between mid-April and June 15 and must be emailed to finaid-schol@udel.edu with a handwritten signature. Recipients are notified in mid-July.

The Harker Family Scholarship at the University of Delaware recognizes undergraduates in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics or the College of Engineering who are the first generation in their immediate family to attend college. Applicants need at least a 2.0 GPA and submit the special-requirements endowment application between mid-April and June 15 to finaid-schol@udel.edu with a handwritten signature. Financial need is not required. The award supports first-generation students pursuing business or engineering degrees and is selected each June for the next academic year.
