Scholarships at Boston University

Boston University selects approximately 20 first-year students each year for the Trustee Scholars Program. Candidates show exceptional academics plus intellectual and creative breadth beyond the classroom. The Trustee Scholarship covers full undergraduate tuition and mandatory undergraduate student fees and is renewable for four years when criteria are met, including a minimum 3.50 GPA and on-campus housing. Nomination by a high school principal or headmaster is required. Submit complete admission materials by December 1. No CSS Profile or FAFSA is required for this merit award.

Named junior merit award paired with the Harold C. Case Scholarship for Boston University undergraduates entering their senior year. Awards range from $3,000 to full tuition based on financial need, scholarly accomplishment, extracurricular contributions to the BU community, and future potential. Enrolled juniors with at least a 3.5 GPA apply through the shared InfoReady portal by March 20 with a personal statement, resume, transcript, and three recommendation letters addressed to the Case and Melville Scholarships Selection Committee.

Merit scholarship for full-time juniors and seniors in the College of Arts and Sciences at Boston University whose coursework includes a significant focus on American history or culture. Applicants need a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA and at least four courses in American history or culture completed or planned. Submit an unofficial transcript, 500-to-700-word essay, and writing sample to the History Department by June 12 for the 2026–2027 cycle. Junior recipients in good standing renew automatically for senior year.

Full-tuition Boston University scholarship for graduating seniors from parochial high schools in the Archdiocese of Boston nominated by their schools for academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Recipients must live in Boston University Charles River campus housing, complete at least 12 credits each semester, and maintain a 3.20 cumulative GPA for renewal. Additional requirements appear in the Guide to Your Merit Award. Nominated students apply for undergraduate admission by December 1 for merit scholarship consideration.
