New Brunswick Scholarships

International students enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at the University of New Brunswick may be considered for the A.C. Garrod Scholarship. One $5,000 award is available. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need, with preference for a Fredericton campus student in the Bachelor of Philosophy in Leadership Studies or a Saint John campus student. Submit the UNB entrance scholarship application by the March deadline.

Full-time undergraduate students at the University of Ottawa who work as student mentors in a faculty, are not Ontario residents (as per OSAP rules), demonstrate financial need, and show strong academic, leadership, and coaching skills may apply. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, persons with protected or refugee status, and international students. Awards are $4,500 or more, up to the cost of tuition for one full academic year. Apply via uoZone by November 3 with the Financial Questionnaire, transcript, CV, a 500-word letter on your mentor experience, and a reference letter.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents on the Fredericton campus who have completed the second or third year of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) may apply. One $2,500 scholarship is awarded. Candidates must not hold a major scholarship at the same time. Selection is based on academic achievement.

Fredericton campus undergraduate students at UNB who submit an outstanding essay or report on New Brunswick history or biography for a regular course requirement are eligible. Preference goes to work on Miramichi or Northumberland County topics. If none qualify, the award goes to superior work in New Brunswick, Atlantic, or Canadian history. The prize is worth $1,500, recommended by the Department of History.

University of New Brunswick Fredericton campus students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (consecutive or concurrent) who have completed a Bachelor of Science, or who are enrolled in the B.Sc./B.Ed. program, and who are New Brunswick residents under Student Financial Services guidelines may receive this scholarship. Selection is based on financial need and academic performance. Two awards of $1,250 are available each year. Apply for B.Ed. entrance scholarships through your UNB application account by March 30.

Fredericton campus students who have completed at least first-year degree requirements, maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA in the previous year, and are members of a Varsity Reds athletic team may apply. One scholarship of $1,200 is available. The award goes to a student who has made and will continue to make a positive contribution to university and community life.

Students continuing beyond the first year (30 credit hours) in the BBA program on the Fredericton campus who demonstrate financial need and at least an average academic record may apply. One bursary of $1,000 is available. The award recognizes the late Professor H.D. Woods for his contributions to industrial relations and to the Faculty of Business Administration at UNB.

University of New Brunswick Fredericton campus students entering the second, third, or fourth year of the BScF or BScENR programs are eligible. Three scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded primarily on scholastic attainment, with leadership demonstrated through extracurricular involvement also considered. Apply through the university's scholarship process by April 15.

Fredericton campus students who have completed the first year of the Bachelor of Arts program and demonstrated excellence in at least six credit hours of English may be nominated for this prize. One prize of $1,000 is awarded on the recommendation of the Department of English. A nomination letter from the course instructor and a portfolio of the student's work, including essays and exams, are required.

Open to students selected on the basis of scholastic attainment and demonstrated financial need. One scholarship of $500 is awarded. Selection weighs both academic record and need. Apply through the university's standard scholarship and bursary application by the posted deadline.
