Manitoba Scholarships

Indigenous high school graduates across Canada entering any direct-entry program at the University of Manitoba who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential and academic giftedness, including a minimum 90 percent average on eligible courses, plus community involvement. Three awards valued at $16,000 each ($4,000 per year for four years). Complete applications and all required documentation, including reference letters through the Undergraduate Application portal, by December 1 each year. The BMO Financial Group Indigenous Leader of Tomorrow scholarship program supports exceptional Indigenous high school graduates within the University of Manitoba community.

For a student with satisfactory academic progress who has completed at least 30 credit hours and is majoring in Psychology in any degree program. Preference may be given to a single parent. One bursary of $3,695 is offered. Applicants must complete the Special Awards for High Need Students application form.

University of Winnipeg continuing degree students with high academic standing may receive the Hanna Family Scholarship. Special consideration may be given to Classics, History, or Philosophy majors. One $1,759 award is available. Apply through AcademicWorks by October 1. The scholarship was established by Alan and Dianne Hanna.

Open to entering or returning students with financial need who are Manitoba residents of Métis status. Applicants must provide a letter from the Louis Riel Institute confirming membership with the Manitoba Métis Federation, and complete the Special Awards for High Need Students and Louis Riel Bursary application forms. Bursaries of $1,500.

Students at Assiniboine College with financial need may apply for this bursary from the Rotary Club of Brandon. One award of $1,000 is offered. Apply through the Assiniboine AwardSpring general bursary application.

Outstanding high school graduates entering the University of Winnipeg may apply for this entrance scholarship. One award of $957 is available, funded by the Erica and Arnold Rogers Fund for Academic Excellence. Submit the online entrance scholarship application by March 4.

University of Winnipeg undergraduate students from rural Manitoba who have completed first year (30 credit hours) and are continuing in any degree program may apply through the university awards portal. One scholarship of $884 is presented annually. Submit your application by October 1. The award is presented by the Lightly family.

University of Winnipeg students entering the fourth year of an English Honours program who have displayed academic excellence may receive this scholarship. Financial need may also be considered. The award is valued at $600 and is funded by the Erica and Arnold Rogers Fund for Academic Excellence. Apply through the university awards portal.

Continuing students in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Winnipeg who demonstrate financial need may receive this bursary. The award provides $495 to one student. Apply through the university's AcademicWorks awards portal when the bursary cycle is active. The fund honours Lucille and Clarence Williams and recognizes faculty dedication to helping business students overcome obstacles and reach their potential.

Promising wind students in the Brandon University School of Music who demonstrate financial need may apply for this memorial scholarship-bursary. The award amount varies and is set annually by the School of Music. Apply by April 30.
