Music Scholarships in Canada

Alberta residents who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons may apply for graduate study in music, drama, dance, or literary or visual arts at the master's level. Applicants must be full-time graduate students. Up to seven scholarships of $15,000 each are available. Submit an application form, official transcripts, a resume, and two reference letters between August 1 and November 30.

Concordia Fine Arts undergraduates in third or fourth year, and graduate students in the second year of a program (including INDI and HUMA), may propose an internship with a Greater Montreal non-profit arts organization. Each award is $5,000, with up to 40 awards per year across Fine Arts departments and eligible graduate programs. Develop a project with a host organization, then apply through the Fine Arts internship award process by the November 15 or March 15 deadline for your project timeline.

Students registered in year 2 or beyond in the University of Windsor School of Music voice program. Based on academic merit (minimum 75% cumulative average) and demonstrated financial need. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents (including protected persons) in Ontario who meet OSAP Ontario residency requirements. One award of $1,300. First-year students enrolled full-time in a music program in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications may be considered for this Music Entrance Scholarship. Candidates need a minimum course load of 12 credits per term (unless on an approved reduced load), good academic standing, and the highest cumulative entrance GPA among those considered. The award is $1,000. There is no application; students are nominated, and successful students are notified by email.

Open annually to a continuing undergraduate in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary (entering second, third, or fourth year), rotating among drama, music, and dance majors. Year 1 recognizes outstanding achievement and attitude in drama; year 2 in music; year 3 in dance. One award of $1,000 is available. This is an undergraduate nominated award for continuing students. Funded through The Calgary Foundation Beth Israel Players Scholarship Fund.

Full-time third-year undergraduate students registered in Honours Dramatic Art at the University of Windsor who have successfully completed at least four courses in Scenic Design, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Stage Makeup, or Scene Painting, have indicated interest in a career in technical theatre and/or design, have a minimum cumulative average of 75%, demonstrate financial need, are returning for Fourth Year, and are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (including Protected Persons) meeting OSAP Ontario residency requirements may apply for the Jules Tonus Memorial Endowment Scholarship for Excellence in Theatre Design and Practice. Students entering the University of Lethbridge MFA in Theatre and Dramatic Arts with an interest in design (minimum GPA 3.0, full-time) are nominated by the Department of Theatre and Dramatic Arts. No application is required. The minimum award value is $1,000. The number of awards varies. The award is given in memory of John Farwell, a design faculty member in the Faculty of Fine Arts (Theatre and Dramatic Arts).

University of Regina undergraduate students in the Faculty of Media, Art and Performance may receive an Alice M. Parent Memorial Bursary. Applicants need a minimum undergraduate GPA of 75%, at least 83 completed credit hours, and registration in a minimum of 9 credit hours in the semester the award is presented. Preference goes to students with demonstrated volunteer leadership skills and financial need. Two bursaries of $550 are awarded annually. Apply through the Student Awards Management System (SAMS).

Full-time domestic students in a Ministry-approved post-secondary program at Centennial College's Story Arts Centre who face exceptional equipment and supplies costs in their studies. This fall bursary is offered through Centennial's Scholarships and Bursaries Finder; students must complete the Finder to receive an invitation to apply. The public listing does not confirm a fixed award amount or number of awards.

Holland College Photography and Videography students (full- or part-time) are eligible. The award goes to a graduating student who has made an outstanding contribution to the program. One award of $430 is given. This is nomination-based; students do not apply.
