Education Scholarships in Canada

Full-time students in any year of Ontario Tech's Faculty of Education who demonstrate financial need and are in good academic standing. Four awards of $500. Apply through Ontario Tech Student Awards and Financial Aid.

Nursing students enrolled at a CNSA chapter school in good standing may apply for this award recognizing education or research work outside required class assignments, such as research projects on nursing topics, curriculum advocacy, or specialty certifications. This CNSA member award is valued at $1,000 and is granted through the Canadian Nurses Foundation's annual scholarship program. One Canadian Nurses Foundation application covers every award you qualify for. The application opens January 1 and closes in mid-March each year (the 2026 cycle closed March 17, 2026); recipients are notified in July, and each applicant can receive at most one award per year. Applicants submit a resume or CV, confirmation of registration from their school, transcripts (unofficial accepted), and one or two references from academic supervisors, who complete a short competency assessment through the application portal. Canadian citizenship or permanent residence and enrollment in a Canadian nursing program are required.

UBC Vancouver students participating in Education Abroad programs. Award amounts vary. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Education Abroad Program Advisory Committee in consultation with the Director of Enrolment Services; there is no separate application. Endowed by alumni, friends, and the University of British Columbia.

Full-time undergraduate or graduate University of Ottawa students who graduated from an Ottawa-region high school, demonstrate financial need and academic excellence, and are registered September through April may apply. One award of variable value is available. Apply via uoZone with the Financial Questionnaire and high-school transcript by October 31.

Full-time mature Bachelor of Education students in Teacher Education or Formation à l'enseignement at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Education who returned to studies after an interruption and demonstrate financial need. One scholarship of $1,000. Apply through Online Scholarships and Bursaries in uoZone by November 3 with the Financial Questionnaire, a 500-word cover letter on career goals, and proof of mature-student status.

University of Windsor students who meet OSOTF requirements for citizenship and residency and demonstrate financial need may apply for the OSOTF - Education Bursary, need-based assistance from the OSOTF Education fund. Twelve awards of $1,000 each are available. Apply online.

For full-time Mount Royal University students entering first through fourth year of the Bachelor of Education Elementary program. Selection is based on financial need. Award amount varies. Apply through MRU's general awards application (typically open November 1 to March 1).

For undergraduate students in York University's Faculty of Education who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons, are Ontario residents, and demonstrate financial need. Bursary amounts vary. Apply through York FAAS. The York University Faculty Association Foundation and Trust established these bursaries to help students facing financial difficulty while completing undergraduate studies.

Part-time or full-time University of Manitoba Faculty of Education students continuing their program with a minimum 3.0 DGPA who participate in school and community activities and demonstrate potential as an educational leader may apply for the Education Alumni Scholarship. Three non-renewable $1,000 awards are available. Applications are handled through the Faculty of Education awards process.

Queen's University students registered in the Faculty of Education who demonstrate financial need may apply for the Education '97 Bursary through the registrar's named general bursaries application. One bursary is awarded annually; the value varies. Apply through Queen's financial aid application for current students. The bursary was established in May 2001 by the class of Education '97.
