Preventive Dentistry Prize
$100Rolling deadlineFirst-year dentistry students at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry with the highest standing in the Preventive Dentistry course are eligible. A prize of $100 is awarded. Recipients are chosen on the recommendation of the Faculty of Dentistry. No separate application is required. The prize was endowed by the Division of Dental Health Services, Ministry of Health, and the Dental Division of the Alumni Association.

$13,500Rolling deadlineWestern University students entering the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need, and who meet Ontario residency requirements, may receive a Schulich Dentistry Scholarship. Four scholarships of $13,500 per academic year are available for up to four years, provided recipients progress satisfactorily and continue to demonstrate financial need. Complete an Admission Bursary or Financial Assistance application and submit the Schulich Scholarship Supplemental Application.

$1,000Rolling deadlineThird- and fourth-year students in the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC Vancouver are eligible for these awards, which recognize a well-developed sense of managing a small clinical practice in an educational context and strong interaction with patients. Two awards of $1,000 each are offered by Scotiabank, one to a student in third year and one to a student in fourth year. The awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty based on clinical grade average and clinical procedure activity as measured by Clinical Procedural Value, so no application is required.

$250Rolling deadlineUniversity of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry undergraduate students are automatically considered for this prize. One $250 prize is awarded to the most outstanding student in the clinical work of pediatric dentistry. No separate application is required. The Faculty of Dentistry selects the recipient based on clinical performance in pediatric dentistry.

Amount variesRolling deadlineOpen to domestic and international students registered full-time in PhD, DMA, and Master's (except full cost-recovery) degree programs in the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC Vancouver. Funded by the Graduate Support Initiative, awards may be given as entrance awards, multi-year funding awards, tuition awards, or scholarship top-up awards, with amounts varying by cycle. Selection is made on the recommendation of faculties or graduate programs in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, with no separate application.

A $2,000 award is made available annually through a gift from Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) to an outstanding student who demonstrates leadership and community involvement and who reflects RBC's values of collaboration, inclusion, and integrity. There is no separate application; the award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Dentistry.

$2,000Rolling deadlineGraduating students in the combined M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Craniofacial Science and Diploma in Orthodontics program at UBC who demonstrate leadership and professionalism in the Faculty of Dentistry. A $2,000 award made available annually through a gift from Dr. Asef Karim (B.Sc. 1993, D.M.D. 1999) in honour of his aunt, Ms. Rashida Ali. No separate student application. The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Dentistry, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

$1,100Annual: June 1Open to a Brandon University student in the graduating year who has been accepted into a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine program in Canada. If no graduating student is eligible in a given year, the award may be renewed for a recent Brandon University graduate who previously received it and continues to meet dentistry program requirements. One scholarship of $1,100 is awarded on the basis of academic merit. Apply through Brandon University's centralized scholarship application.
