Civil Engineering Scholarships in Canada

Third- or fourth-year full-time Civil Engineering (Environmental and Water Resources Option) students at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Engineering who demonstrate academic excellence and volunteer in the Faculty of Engineering or civic community may apply. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, protected/refugee status holders, and international students. One $1,750 scholarship is available. Apply via uoZone by November 3 with a CV. The Stantec Civil Engineering Scholarship recognizes Environmental and Water Resources Option students who give back through volunteer work.

Students entering the second year of a Master of Applied Science program in Civil Engineering at UBC Vancouver may be considered. A $4,600 scholarship endowed by UMA Group Limited and the Province of British Columbia is awarded on the recommendation of the Department of Civil Engineering in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate application.

Open to SAIT students in their third semester enrolled in the Civil Engineering Technology program within the School of Construction. Candidates must exhibit academic achievement and provide a significant contribution to the ongoing extracurricular activities of their class. One award of $1,600 is available for the Fall semester. Apply through mySAIT Student Awards and Financial Aid by September 28.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents (including protected persons) who meet Ontario residency requirements may apply if they are full-time Civil Engineering undergraduates at the University of Windsor in second year or beyond, with a minimum cumulative average of 72% and proven financial need. Candidates should show involvement in the Engineering Society and/or improving engineering education at Windsor, plus recent community volunteer activity. One award of $1,500 is available. Queen's University Canadian citizens and permanent residents in Civil Engineering who demonstrate financial need may apply through the general bursary application by October 31. The bursary amount varies. Alex T. Cairncross, B.Sc.'31, established this bursary in memory of his wife, Dr. Helen Cairncross.

Outstanding third- or fourth-year Bachelor of Applied Science students studying Civil Engineering at UBC Vancouver may be nominated for these scholarships. Scholarships of varying amounts are offered annually by EBC Inc., a Canadian construction company active in building, mining, and civil engineering. No separate application is required; the Department of Civil Engineering makes recommendations.

For an undergraduate student in UBC Civil Engineering. A $2,900 scholarship honors Dr. Sheldon Cherry's fifty years of service as Professor and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Civil Engineering. There is no separate student application. The award is made on the recommendation of the Department of Civil Engineering.

Outstanding students entering Year 2 in Civil or Environmental Engineering at the University of Windsor who combine scholarship with extracurricular activities within the university or community may apply. A minimum cumulative average of 68% is required. One award of $600 is available. Apply online. Supported by continuing donations from graduates of Chemical, Civil, and Environmental Engineering.

Continuing Civil Engineering undergraduates in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary are eligible. Selection is based on academic merit. One scholarship of up to $1,000 is offered annually. Apply through My UCalgary Portal under Continuing Undergraduate Awards. Funded by Sam Kolias and 1983 Class Alumni.

Undergraduate students enrolled in McMaster Civil Engineering who attain high averages, demonstrate an interest in geotechnical engineering and/or heavy construction, and demonstrate leadership may apply. The scholarship is $3,500. Apply through McMaster AwardSpring. Established in 2025 by the Heavy Construction Association of Toronto (HCAT).
