Aerospace Engineering Scholarships in Canada

U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. dual citizens who intend to pursue a doctoral degree in a DoD-relevant science or engineering discipline at a U.S. institution may apply for the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. Baccalaureate, master's, and early-stage PhD candidates are eligible. The three-year fellowship covers full tuition and required fees (excluding room and board), a $3,600 monthly stipend ($43,200 annually), and health insurance support up to $1,600. The program typically awards between 150 and 350 fellowships each year. Apply through the NDSEG program portal during the annual cycle. Research areas must align with DoD service Broad Agency Announcements and related strategy documents.

Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis) or Black (African Canadian, Caribbean Canadian, or Afro-Caribbean heritage) PhD candidates who meet admission requirements for a Faculty of Engineering PhD program at the University of Ottawa and are Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible. Recipients receive $25,000 per year for four years plus IBET mentorship. Apply online with a CV, statement of purpose, supervisor letter of support, and any other relevant documents. Deadlines: Fall October 31, Winter March 31, Summer July 31. Short-listed candidates or supervisors may be contacted for an interview. The IBET Momentum Fellowship is a partnership among Canadian universities aimed at increasing Indigenous and Black representation in engineering academia and STEM.

First Nation, Metis, and Inuit students enrolling full time in a science, technology, engineering, or math program at the University of Windsor may apply. Students need a minimum admission average of 75% and must demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to FNMI students from Ontario. Several awards of $20,000 are available. Recipients may renew for up to three additional years if they maintain a minimum 75% scholarship average in their program of study. Apply online with a self-reflection statement on how the award will affect your academic career, plus a statement outlining your heritage.

Female international students accepted to or enrolled in a full-time STEM degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports may apply. For U.S. study, applicants must be permanent residents, DACA recipients, or hold a valid study-permitting visa. For Canadian study, applicants must be permanent residents or hold a valid study permit. U.S. citizens studying in the U.S. and Canadian citizens studying in Canada are not eligible. Open to University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering undergraduates in third or fourth year with superior academic achievement. Selection is based on academic standing and extracurricular involvement such as community service, student government, sports, or the arts. Preference is given to students interested in a career in the petroleum industry. Three awards of $4,000. Nomination-based. Endowed by Shell Canada Limited.

Full-time undergraduate students in the University of Ottawa Faculty of Engineering or Faculty of Science who are Indigenous, racialized, or LGBTQ2S+ community members and demonstrate financial need may apply. The award is $3,000, with a minimum of one recipient. Apply through Online Scholarships and Bursaries in uoZone with the Financial Questionnaire and identity documentation or a 500-word LGBTQ2S+ involvement statement. Applications are due November 3. The Canadian National Energy Alliance STEM EDI Scholarship supports underrepresented STEM undergraduates at uOttawa.

Open to Indigenous Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are registered full-time in a natural sciences or engineering degree program at an eligible institution, or employed as a postdoctoral fellow in the natural sciences or engineering at an eligible institution. The NSERC Indigenous Student Ambassadors grant is $2,500. It supports science-promotion work with Indigenous communities and schools, including sharing research and education experiences or participating in science promotion events.

University of Guelph students registered in any program in the College of Biological Science, the College of Computational, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences, or the College of Engineering who have completed at least 2.5 credits, and who meet the government-mandated terms for an OTSS award, may apply. One award of $1,500. Selection is based on financial need. Apply by October 7 with a completed Financial Need Assessment Form. Established on behalf of the Van Loon family in honour of parents John and Margaret Van Loon.

University of Guelph honours students in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences who have completed at least 4.0 credits and demonstrated financial need may be considered. One one-time award of $1,000 is available. Submit an in-course Financial Needs Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 7. Eligible students receive automatic consideration once the form is submitted. This is an OSOTF ACCESS award.

Graduate students enrolled in any natural or applied sciences program at the University of Windsor with a minimum cumulative average of 80% may apply. Candidates must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons. This award is designated for a mature married student with family or other responsibilities.
