About this scholarship
Students accepted into the Washington-Hillsdale Internship Program receive a four-thousand-dollar scholarship to offset living costs while spending a semester in Washington, D.C., interning by day and taking intensive Hillsdale courses at night. WHIP is open to Hillsdale juniors and seniors of all majors who have completed Politics 101: The U.S. Constitution and, after acceptance, a Career Services meeting. Participants intern with congressional offices, federal agencies, think tanks, media outlets, museums, schools, and other organizations while living in college-arranged Capitol Hill housing. The program maintains full-time enrollment status and includes sponsored historical and professional activities. Applications for each semester open on a published schedule; Spring 2027 applications open August 26. The scholarship is awarded as part of program acceptance and supports Hillsdale's goal of practical civic education.
