Applicants must have completed at least 15 English credits at CUE. The award goes to the applicant with the highest GPA on the most recently completed 15 English credits.

Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a nursing degree program at a Georgia post-secondary institution may apply. Diploma programs are excluded, and applicants need a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. The Higher Foundation and Sage Consulting Partners award one $2,000 Shirley Ann Steinback-Hawthrone Scholarship. Round 1 is open from May 1, 2026 through January 1, 2027. Applicants complete the public four-page Jotform with their contact and school information, a basic-needs response, an official college transcript, a one-page nursing essay, a professional headshot, and demographic and financial-aid questions. Only selected finalists later complete the separate Round 2 video and enrollment-verification requirements.
