University Trustee Valerie Friedman and her husband Mark established the Valerie and Mark Friedman and Family Scholarship in 2012 to help undergraduates from varied backgrounds attend Northwestern and pursue diverse academic interests. The endowed fund is part of Northwestern's need-based scholarship portfolio; eligible students are automatically considered when they apply for financial aid and meet donor criteria, with no separate scholarship application required.
