About this scholarship
The Tier One Scholarship is the University of Houston's premier merit award for exceptionally qualified incoming freshmen. It covers full tuition and mandatory fees for four years, on-campus housing and a meal plan for the first two years, a one-time one thousand dollar undergraduate research stipend, and a one-time two thousand dollar study-abroad stipend. Out-of-state recipients receive a non-resident tuition waiver. Applicants complete the Tier One Scholarship application and UH admission application by November 2 with a letter of recommendation; top candidates attend a mandatory January invitational interview. Competitive profiles typically include top-decile class rank and strong SAT or ACT scores. Architecture students receive five years of benefits.
