The Thompson Working Families Transfer Student Scholarship assists new transfer students at Grand Valley State University from Michigan working families who have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework. The Thompson Foundation provides $5,500 per year, matched by at least $5,500 in GVSU institutional funds. Recipients must enroll full time, demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA, and complete 20 hours of community service annually. Preference goes to students with the largest gap between eligible aid and tuition. The award renews for one additional year when recipients maintain a 2.75 GPA and satisfactory academic progress.
