About this scholarship
The Pursuit is a humanities scholarship program at Catawba College for newly admitted first-year students who complete a two-course sequence in their freshman year exploring transformative texts and big questions about purpose, virtue, and success. Selected students receive a two-thousand-dollar scholarship in the first year, paid one thousand dollars each semester, while the courses satisfy humanities general education requirements. Students who later minor in humanities-related fields may receive additional funding totaling eight thousand dollars, and humanities majors may receive up to nine thousand five hundred dollars total. Applicants write a required short essay evaluated by Pursuit faculty, with priority deadlines December 1 and March 1.
