About this scholarship
Open to UBC Ph.D. students in Economics at the Vancouver School of Economics entering their third year or higher whose research advances the understanding of wealth and income inequality.
Each Stone PhD Fellow receives $20,000 per year for up to two years, plus a $3,000 annual research stipend for data collection, analysis, and conference travel. Continued funding is conditional on satisfactory academic progress.
Students apply directly to the Stone Centre during its annual spring application window. Fellows are selected by a committee of Stone Centre faculty, and awards are made on the recommendation of the Vancouver School of Economics in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
The Stone Centre on Wealth and Income Inequality, established by the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation, supports research on the causes and consequences of income disparity and economic inequality.
