About this scholarship
The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholars (STEMS) Program at the University of North Georgia awards scholarships of up to $10,000 per academic year to low-income, academically talented students pursuing non-clinical STEM degrees. Funded by a six-year National Science Foundation S-STEM grant of nearly $1.5 million, the program supports students in biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, and physics on the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses for up to four years. Scholars participate in learning communities, a first-year STEM seminar, faculty mentoring, undergraduate research, professional development, and internship opportunities. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and strong academic potential. Recipients are selected through the program application process coordinated by NSF grant faculty leads.
