About this scholarship
The Shapiro Prize for Academic Excellence, endowed in 2001 and established in 1998, honors outstanding academic achievement by Princeton undergraduates in their first or second years. Students are chosen during the summer for work the previous academic year based on careful review of academic records, including the range, depth, and difficulty of coursework. Residential college faculty committees recommend recipients. Winners are honored at a celebratory banquet hosted by the president and receive a book written by a Princeton faculty member.
