About this scholarship
The President's Scholar Award is Southern Methodist University's highest academic merit scholarship for incoming first-year students with exceptional records. Recipients receive full tuition and fees for up to eight consecutive fall and spring semesters or until graduation, plus funding for one SMU-approved study abroad experience; on-campus students also receive a housing scholarship. Selection uses a holistic review of the admission application and additional President's Scholars materials, and recipients must maintain a cumulative SMU GPA of at least 3.300 with full-time enrollment. Total SMU merit and need-based awards cannot exceed tuition and fees.
