Additional scholarship for in-state entering freshmen who completed the Palmetto Boys State or Palmetto Girls State program as rising high school seniors and are listed as participants by the program. This one-thousand-dollar annual award stacks on top of one of the standard Winthrop freshman merit scholarships rather than replacing it. It recognizes civic leadership development through the Palmetto programs. The award renews for up to three additional years with the same satisfactory academic progress requirements as other freshman merit awards.
